Svegliarsi is an Italian verb meaning to wake (oneself) up, start (up) again, or even wise up. It is a regular first-conjugation Italian verb and is also a reflexive verb, which means it requires a reflexive pronoun. In English, verbs aren’t often thought of as being reflexive; however, in Italian, a reflexive verb (verbo riflessivo) is one where the action carried out by the subject is performed on the same subject. #italianlearning #linguaitaliana #learnitalian #italianverbs #italianforbegginers #learnlanguages #italianlanguageschool #polyglots #italiancourse #italianonline #learnitalianonline #aprendaitaliano #italianofacile #italianlanguage #followforfollow #englishlanguage #learningitalian #italianwords #polyglot #languagelearning #italianinnewyork #Italian #followforfollowback #follow4follow #it #italiangrammar #italianpronunciation #italiano #imperfetto #essere

Avoid this common mistake when introducing yourself in French! 🙅♀️🇫🇷 I’ve heard many French learners use “Je suis” (I am) + their name to introduce themselves in French. While it is the literal translation from the English way of introducing oneself, French speakers don’t usually say this. Instead, we say: “Je m’appelle” + name (my name is/literally: I call myself + name). This phrase is conjugated with the verb S’APPELER (to call oneself). You can also continue the sentence by saying “enchanté(e)” (nice to meet you)! Another way to introduce yourself to someone new is simply saying your name. Make sure you allow for a brief pause after saying “bonjour, bonsoir, salut, coucou, etc.” so it is clear you are introducing yourself. 🇫🇷 Conjugation Reminder: S’APPELER (to call oneself) in the present tense: - Je m’appelle (My name is) - Tu t’appelles (Your name is) - Il/elle/on/Iel s’appelle (He/her/their name is) - Nous nous appelons (Our names are) - Vous vous appelez (Your names are) - Ils/Elles/Iels s’appellent (Their names are) 💡 S’APPELER is a reflexive verb. Reflexive verbs are verbs where the subject and the object of the action are the same person or thing. In the case of “s’appeler,” it means ‘to call oneself’ or ´to be called’, and it refers to the act of naming oneself. 🗣️ Want to practice speaking French more confidently? So, • present tense: MI METTO (I put on) • past tense: MI SONO MESSA (I put on) • future tense: MI METTERÒ E tu? Quale look autunnale ti sei messa/o oggi? 💬 Fammi sapere con un commento!
