Sharing what I’ve learned in 4 years of working with resin (and making a lot of mistakes so you don’t have to). 1. Resin is a chemical – protect yourself Resin can look like a fun art supply, but it’s still a chemical. 👉 Always wear gloves and a good mask. 👉 Work in a space with proper ventilation (not directly under a fan). Your safety should be a priority from day one. 2. Use the right resin for your work There are different types: * Coating– for trays, coasters, flat surfaces * Casting – for molds, deep pours, preserved flowers * UV – for small, fast-finish items like charms Using the wrong resin can lead to stickiness, yellowing, or wasted effort. 3. Mistakes will happen – it’s normal No matter how many tutorials you watch, your first few pieces may go wrong. Bubbles, uneven curing, dust—these are all part of the learning. 👉 Keep practicing. Save your early pieces to see how far you’ve come. 4. Setup and environment make a big difference Resin needs the right temperature (22–25°C) and a clean, level surface. Use proper tools: * Measuring scale * Torch or heat gun * Silicone mats One wrong move (like shaking the table while it cures) can ruin hours of work. 5.
