While I attribute the majority of my grip strength to over a decade of raw pulling, primarily heavy weighted pull ups (considering I've never done dedicated grip training until recently), if I wanted to increase my numbers on dynamometer I'd focus on replicating the same mechanical pattern. A lot of conventional "crushing grip" work is based on the static resistance (ex. dead hangs, towel hangs, rack holds, rolling thunder...) but squeezing dynamometer requires a short dynamic contraction output. Anything comes to mind? Yup, grippers. They're replicating the mechanics/motion very closely, come in different resistances so you can easily progress to higher resistance as you're getting stronger and you can bring them with you and use them anywhere. I started playing with grippers recently, and although I haven't re-tested my grip strength on a dynamometer yet, the rate of progress in terms of resistance and reps feels like newbie gains all over again. Static crushing grip strength is arguably more useful in the gym and daily tasks, but it has significantly lower carryover to dynamometer score.
