Main House Back Door SHORT. We have done it! It’s complete 😀😀 LONG. The longest restoration on the estate to date. I think this has taken us longer than restoring any of the rooms we have completed so far. But it’s totally worth it… we look at it in awe!! From all the original details, to the new ones we had to add to repair it. Taking the tooth’s out, the dentil course of the cornice and restoring over 80 of them by hand and meticulously repairing, repainting and fitting them again was worth it when you see the overall finish. This was also the first time we have removed all the original glass panes and refitted them to get a perfect slimline putty bead. Borja also replaced one of the newer glass panes for an old wavy glass to match. The door is finished in our estate colour ‘TinyEstateBlue’ surrounded by our exterior off white ‘Dandelion’ that gives it the crispness it needed (paints by @fenwickandtilbrook ). This is just the first stage of our big plans to restore the rear facade but this just shows the level we want it all to be at. 🚨🛑 Watch out USPS, your boys finally got a replacement newel post and we’re ready to get to work on Project Stoop! Our original post was stolen the week after we closed and replacing it has been on our list of to-do’s for over a year! New obsession. Vintage cast iron skillet restoration. This is a 1940ish Lodge 8 skillet found at a garage sale for a couple of bucks. Notice the heat ring on the underside. Restoring an antique bobbin table 🥵 This project really took a whole year to do, but it was so worth it! When I saw this side table on marketplace I knew it had amazing potential. But I also knew it would be sooooo much work. Honestly there were so many high and soooo many lows with this one. I used paint stripper and then strains of sandpaper to remove the paint. I was so happy to finally remove all the paint, and then the top turned out to be chip board so I had to replace it! Anddddd then one of the legs broke and I had to glue it back on! But honestly so happy I stuck with it! I’m completely absorbed in restoring this amazing find from an antique fair! It’s a wall mounted shelf - a hand carved piece with a graceful peacock underneath, surrounded by intricate details along the edge, and boasting a lovely color palette of greens, oranges, whites in muted tones!! 🔥 Relight My Fire 🔥 This fireplace needed its own reel because I have stripped, scraped and scrubbed thick black paint of the original blue tiles. My hands are literally broken but I am so pleased I have been able to restore it.
