my baby is serving stripes & face🐺🤎 people often try to tell me that my Cane Corso, Kora, is a Presa Canario because of her brindle coat. in reality, “reverse” grey brindle is a recognized coat color for Cani Corsi. other acceptable colors (as stated in the AKC Official Standard of the Cane Corso) are black, lighter and darker shades of gray, lighter and darker shades of fawn, and red. Brindling is allowed on all of these colors. Solid fawn and red, including lighter and darker shades, have a black or gray mask. The mask does not go beyond the eyes. He said he owes his life to this dog ❤️ This is Kevin and his reverse brindle Boxer, Sparky 🐶 Kevin told me that Sparky has quite literally changed his life. He used to work too much, sit too long, and his health was suffering. But walking Sparky every day has completely turned things around, both physically and mentally 🙏 He said he owes Sparky a lot of his life, and emphasised how something as simple as walking, something many of us take for granted, can make such a big impact 💙 Side note: This was actually the third time I had approached Kevin and Sparky! It still surprises me looking back on photos and videos, how much Ringo’s fur has changed in the last 6 months. One white spot on his shoulder in August, quickly developed to having white spots all over his body. In December, he also started getting some bald patches. We don’t know what is causing the change in Ringo’s fur. The vet suggested vitiligo. However there is no genetic history in his bloodline and we can’t be 100% sure if it’s vitiligo unless Ringo was to have a skin biopsy. Because vitiligo isn’t harmful in anyway, there’s no health risks to it and it doesn’t reduce lifespan, it seems unnecessary to put Ringo under an invasive operation just to get a diagnosis. A few people have messaged sharing a similar experience with their blue whippet with some even growing back all their blue fur after a year or two of the spots appearing. Some people have also suggested it could be colour dilution alopecia which can be more common in dogs that have a diluted coat colour (blue and fawn colours- these are diluted from reds, blacks, tans and browns). However, Ringo doesn’t show the other symptoms commonly associated with this (dry, flaky skin; itchy skin; recurring bacterial infections) and there is also no genetic history of this in his bloodline. Although Ringo’s coat is constantly changing, he hasn’t changed in himself at all. He is still showing all the healthy behaviours you would expect from a dog, so all we can do for now is continue to monitor him and the changes in his coat. We have a check-up at the vets soon so will discuss the changes with them again. So many people comment on how beautiful his coat is now and how unique he looks now which is teaching me to embrace the changes in him. And he’s never had as many modelling gigs as he has recently, so maybe he can be the Winnie Harlow of the whippet world? ☺️ People have said Ringo looks like a grey Bambi, a fawn, a Dalmatian whippet.
