De modelo australiano a estrella internacional: una trayectoria marcada por roles emblemáticos en televisión y cine. McMahon nació el 27 de julio de 1968 en Sídney, Australia. Su padre, Billy McMahon, fue primer ministro australiano entre 1971 y 1972. Inició su carrera profesional como modelo y posteriormente se volcó a la actuación en televisión, destacándose en telenovelas australianas como The Power, the Passion y Home and Away antes de trasladarse a Hollywood para continuar su carrera.
