Honest advice on learning robotics in 2025 and beyond? Here’s exactly what I’d tell you. 🤖 Step 1: Start with Arduino Don’t argue with this. Every serious builder started here. It teaches how code and hardware actually talk. That understanding never becomes useless. Your first week, just make things respond. Blink an LED. Read a sensor. Control a motor. Boring? Maybe. But you’re building instincts that carry you for years. Fundamentals never expire. Step 2: Move to Raspberry Pi Once basic components feel comfortable, switch to Raspberry Pi. This is where things get serious. It runs real Linux, connects to cameras, and runs Python. Python is the language of modern robotics. Learn it well. Step 3: Dive into Computer Vision Start learning Computer Vision early. OpenCV is free and beginner friendly. Teach your robot to detect colours, faces, and objects. Robots that can SEE are the ones that matter right now and in the future. Step 4: Learn ROS (Robot Operating System) Sounds intimidating, but it’s not bad once you start. Every professional robotics company uses it. NASA uses it. Boston Dynamics uses it. You need to know it too. Step 5: Don’t ignore AI Most beginners ignore AI. That’s the core functionality up and running. 👌 Still plenty of bugs to iron out, plus a full wiring and hardware cleanup to do. I also need to fine-tune the servo angles in software—some are only a few degrees off but can't be physically adjusted with enough resolution on the spline. It’s satisfying seeing this finally move after sitting unfinished for years.
