I find that my youngest chickens use them the most. This is because they are the most vulnerable to pecking order nonsense. My old coop had 2x2 roosts and the chickens did ok. When we upgraded coops I installed 2x4 roosts but with the skinny side up and the chickens did ok. You’ll even see it featured it my book 😱. Last year we switched to flat side up and I like it better! Did you know? 🐓 chickens are not herbivores but omnivores, they love bugs, snakes and even frogs and toads! When I've had an ocassional mouse in the coop, if the cats missed it, the chickens got it! 🤣 * I get asked a lot about roosters: you don't need a rooster to get eggs from hens! I started using this on the roosting bars, not just the floor. Mites don’t live in the sand. They hide where chickens sleep.
