Strip by Strip • Day 8 ✨🧵 Mini 4-N-1 ruler + basic straight lines = one of my most-used quilting designs ever. This one looks simple—and it is—but don’t let that fool you. Straight lines like this show up everywhere in my quilting. They add clean texture, work with almost any quilt, and they’re one of the very best designs to practice for building ruler confidence and control. The full real-time video tutorial is available now, so you can slow it down, quilt right along with me, and really get a feel for how the Mini 4-N-1 works. You can still join Strip by Strip, and yes—we’ve got the awesome companion design workbooks to go with it 🙌 👇 Comment STRIP and I’ll send you all the info Happy quilting 🤍

I saw this several years ago in the garment world and I figured I’d give it a try… and now this stainless steel metal sheet lives under my cutting mat ready to go whenever I need extra stability for cutting templates. Is it necessary? Absolutely not. But it doesn’t add any bulk under my mat and works just as easily as pattern weights but with a little extra stability on the template. Off to cut more template pieces today for another version of my new quilt pattern releasing on 1/23! #quiltingwithtemplates #quiltinghacks #curvedpiecing

I don’t know if we can use regular rulers after trying the true cut rulers out. If you’re new to quilting and you need to get some rulers, these are great. You can combine our codes to get 20% off too! #sewingtools #rulers #sewistsoftiktok #fabric #quiltingtiktok @gracecompanyquilting

There are lots of “new words” in the sewing world … fat quarter (fq) is one of them. You’ll see it as an option for fabric needs in quilting patterns and it’s a half yard that is then cut on the fold, which makes 2 fat quarters. Instead of purchasing a quarter yard that has a larger width but smaller length, a fat quarter has a longer length and smaller width. It measures 18”x21” while the 1/4 yard measures 9”x42”. #sewingtips #quiltingtips #fabricshop #quiltshop

Quilting can be easier with ruler quilting. Yes, we need to learn a few techniques. When we learn and practice them ruler quilting creativity begins. ❤️ One technique is learning how to use the reference lines on the ruler to create edge-to-edge patterns. This pattern was created entirely using the ruler reference lines. No pre-marking required.👏🏾👏🏾😀 The STITCHLINE ruler was designed with reference lines to help you have more freedom to design and stitch without pre-marking. #livingwaterquilter #rulerquilting #rulerwork #berninaambassador

Here’s Day 33 of Strip-by-Strip ✨ Today I’m quilting double scallops using the Sway 4 and Sway 5 machine quilting rulers, and yes… I’m doing a little marking first. There’s nothing wrong with adding a few extra guide lines to help keep everything balanced—here I’m using a disappearing ink marking pen before quilting the scallops. After quilting the curves with the rulers, I finish the strip by stitching in the ditch between the strips using the straight edge of the Sway 5. A design like this really shows how combining rulers opens up so many possibilities. The possibilities with ruler quilting truly are endless, and this class is packed with inspiration. You can still join this free class anytime. All of the videos are real-time quilting, and once they’re released you can watch them again and again. Comment STRIP and I’ll send you the info. Grab the workbook, your rulers, and come quilt with us! ✨

If you want ruler quilting to feel smooth instead of stressful… you need these 3 essentials: 1️⃣ A proper ruler foot Not a hopping foot. Not a guess. A true ruler foot designed to safely ride along the edge of your ruler. 2️⃣ A proper machine quilting ruler You need a ¼" thick ruler made specifically for machine quilting — not a cutting ruler. The thickness matters for control and safety. 3️⃣ Gentle pressure This is the big one. You’re not pushing the ruler into the machine. You’re simply stabilizing it. Too much pressure = wobbly lines and tired shoulders. On this sweet heart quilt, I’m using the 4-N-1 Machine Quilting Ruler to create clean, structured designs with confidence. Once you have the right setup? Everything changes. And if you want to see exactly how I quilt full projects like this from start to finish, I share 200+ quilts inside PNQ Academy. 👇 Comment ACADEMY and I’ll send you the details. 🧵 Let the ruler do the work.
