Woke up with an idea a couple nights ago and… well, here we are. I’m experimenting with slow stitching on painted canvas, using wool threads (huge thanks to Sonia for the bag of leftover goodness 💙). My supply stash leans heavily into blues and greens, so of course that became the starting point. I’m pausing here, listening to the piece, and figuring out how to add more texture and colour—because honestly, more is more. #slowstitching #textileart #artprocess #workinprogress

Whilst I’ve been exploring textures over the last few days the tea/rust dye bundle I prepared last weekend has been doing its thing and then drying in the airing cupboard. Today is reveal day and I’m so chuffed with the results. All thanks to Deb @debcoopertextileart. I’m so thankful I did your textile.org course 18 months ago, Deb. It was a revelation 😊 My brain is now on full alert: Powertex hardener, rust dyed fabric (paper next), cut-outs of some of my botanicals drawings from 2021 that I happened upon this morning (photocopies rather than the originals), textured canvases, stitch/free motion embroidery and printing on rice paper. Giving myself time to play and explore has been brilliant for corralling all the ideas that have been buzzing for so many months. With luck I’ll have a work in progress to show soon, once I’ve seen how they come together. Happy weekend everyone 😁
