What a pleasant day trip from the coastline town Deer Isle to central Maine and back ... to go antiquing !! See if you can guess which treasures I bought at the Rusticators Emporium and watch until the end to see my happiest find that I will probably not part with (at least for now) !! That evening when I returned home, I realized that I spend most of my sourcing time going to estate or yard sales, digging for freebies at assorted rubbish yards, going to thrift stores, doing a 180 when I drive by a roadside find ... Rusticator’s 6th season begins this Saturday, May 24th! It’s good to be home. 🌿 We’ll be open Tuesday - Saturday, 10 am - 5 pm throughout the season.

Our last day in Acadia National Park was bittersweet, but we loved everything we saw and did! We walked along the Ocean Path Trail to start the morning, which was very foggy and moody. We stopped by Thunder Hole for second time because it was much more lively than our first visit. Then, we toured La Rochelle (one of the remaining summer “cottages” from the age of the rich rusticators) in Bar Harbor before heading over to the Schoodic Peninsula. The peninsula is so beautiful and well worth the 45 minute drive from Bar Harbor. We did the scenic loop drive and spent a lot of time at the Rockefeller Hall in the Schoodic Institute. The kids got their 4th Junior Ranger badge of the trip, and then we ended the day with a big seafood dinner at the Bar Harbor Lobster Pound. (And I did laundry.
