A man has been arrested in connection with the death of a woman in Shetland. Police were called to the Sandness area on the west of the island’s mainland at around 4.55pm on Sunday, February 11 following reports of a disturbance at a property. A 24-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said a 39-year-old man had been arrested and that detectives are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident. He has been taken to hospital for treatment to injuries. Detective inspector Richard Baird said such incidents are “extremely rare” in Shetland.
