self-care morning saunaing & cold plunging @sweathouz 📍 south Boston

Sunday kicked off our group detox at @artofflowyoga we started with a workshop and a sweaty yoga class. . Eating clean, supporting our liver with @designsforhealthaus , exercising, saunaing @city.cave.gladesville and making clean swaps to the products in our homes. . Had a great time saunaing on the waterfront during the @evergreenfestns with @nordicsaunarentals! This got me thinking about the 2018 Big Jump! This pilot/experiment saw 200+ people come downtown and swim in a designated location (complete with lifeguards and water testing)! The pilot demonstrated that there is an appetite in Halifax for downtown urban swimming infrastructure! So what happened? Develop NS (now BuildNS) put together some pretty solid conceptual plans for the new Cunard development - the public space around the new build on the wharf included better water access for swimming and wading. But budgets and inflation got in the way and all we got was “swim at your own risk” signs and some mediocre seating. This is small potatoes in the grand scheme of things - especially considering the affordability, health and housing crisis we currently live in. But … we were so close to having an ocean access in the heart of our city. And access (without a car) to green and blue spaces are important for our health and well being. Anyways… anyone wanna do a new year’s polar plunge with me? Dm me!

I hate microplastics as much as the next person, and I do everything in my power to avoid them at all costs. BUT the benefits of saunaing outweigh the microplastic exposure here(because I limit exposure everywhere else). Just had an amazing sauna session and feeling great! Saunaing has become a regular part of my routine and I have noticed so many positive changes in my body and mind. What a beautiful start to a glorious day! 🌞 I’m beyond excited to have this on my doorstep! I’ve been saunaing for a good number of years now and to finally have one only a few minutes walk from home is the dream! Especially one in the woods!
