Nikola Tesla was a brilliant inventor and engineer who made major contributions to the development of modern electricity systems. Born in 1856, Tesla is best known for his work on Alternating current (AC), which became the standard method for transmitting electricity over long distances. Unlike direct current (DC), AC could travel efficiently across cities, making widespread electrification possible. Tesla developed important devices such as the Tesla coil, which demonstrated wireless energy transfer and is still used in radio technology today. He also contributed to the invention of induction motors, transformers, and early radio systems. His ideas helped power homes, factories, and entire industries. One of Tesla’s most famous achievements was his role in the “War of Currents,” where his AC system, supported by industrialist George Westinghouse, competed against Thomas Edison’s DC system. AC ultimately proved more practical and became the global standard. Tesla also dreamed of wireless communication and free energy transmission, though many of these ideas were never fully realized. Despite facing financial struggles and lack of recognition during his life, Tesla is now regarded as one of the greatest innovators in history, whose discoveries shaped the modern electrical world. #science #scientists #nikolatesla #physics #math

All credits to the CMS detector & collaboration! 📸 These event displays are visual representations of particle collisions, reconstructed from signals recorded by the CMS detector. 🎆 In each collision, a variety of particles is born — but here’s the mystery: we don’t yet know exactly what came out. Was it a photon? A muon? Or something more elusive?⚛️ Detecting them precisely needs a multipurpose detector like CMS, with different specialised layers! As these particles pass through the detector, they leave a diverse set of traces, such as energy deposits and a range of particle tracks, all captured with great precision by CMS. But do signals give the full picture? 🤔 Well, not completely! To reconstruct what happens during a collision, our teams take into account the signals that are recorded and imbalances in the detector due to the passage of invisible particles (such as neutrinos)– i.e. what we cannot directly see to create the full picture. All of this is processed and transformed into these stunning images using specialised software! 💻 ⚛️ Which event display do you like the most? Thank you to Tom McCauley for these displays! #cmsexperiment #CERN #particlephysics #science #scientists #scienceiscool #scienceisfun #stem #stemlife #lhc #experiment #ilovephysics #physicsstudent

A scientist revealed something surprising Kids who grow into highly successful, emotionally intelligent adults often have parents who practiced a few unusual habits consistently. Not because they pushed perfectionAnd not because they forced nonstop studying But because of the environment they created at home. Here are 7 habits that make a bigger impact than people realize • They let their kids ask endless questionsInstead of shutting curiosity down, they encouraged it. Curiosity is what trains the brain to think deeply and independently • They spoke to their children with respectEven during discipline. Kids who feel heard often develop stronger confidence and communication skills later in life • They allowed healthy failureInstead of rescuing their kids from every mistake, they let them struggle, learn, and build resilience • They modeled emotional regulationChildren learn more from what parents do than what they say. Calm parents often raise calmer children • They prioritized conversation over constant screen timeSimple daily conversations help develop language, emotional intelligence, and critical thinking • They praised effort more than intelligenceInstead of “You’re so smart,” they focused on persistence, problem solving, and growth • They made their child feel emotionally safeKids thrive when they don’t fear embarrassment, rejection, or harsh criticism at home The biggest misconception is that genius only comes from strict discipline or intelligence. But many experts believe emotional safety, curiosity, and consistency shape a child’s development far more than pressure does. Children grow best in environments where they feel safe enough to think, try, fail, and try again. #scientists #children #parents

Amy Eskridge was the co-founder of the Institute for Exotic
223,633

Amy Eskridge was the co-founder of the Institute for Exotic Science in Huntsville. The focus was on experimental propulsion concepts, including antigravity research. The work she was involved in existed within small, private, non mainstream research organizations, not major academic or government institutions. Could that have been part of the problem? . Working on unconventional ideas outside established systems can mean limited oversight, collaboration, and protection. In such an environment, any research perceived as valuable or controversial may attract scrutiny or fierce competition. . Whatever Amy was uncovering through her research, she didn’t seem particularly hesitant to share parts of it. Now, if your everyday conspiracy theorist said those same things, it probably wouldn’t raise many eyebrows, who really takes those guys seriously, right ? But when someone with a scientific background, recognized credentials, and real involvement in the field steps forward and says those same “out there” ideas, it lands differently. People listen. People start paying attention. And maybe that, too, was part of the problem. Loose lips sink ships, after all. . . . . . . . . . . . . . #scientists #missingscientists #amyeskridge
