If you’ve ever wondered how to actually remove layers of old paint without losing your mind (or your furniture’s details) — this one’s for you. 🎨 Comment “STRIP” and I’ll DM you a link to shop all the tools you will need for this technique 🛠️ Here’s my go-to process ⬇️ 1️⃣ Apply a liberal coat of paint stripper — don’t be shy, let it do the heavy lifting. 2️⃣ Spread it evenly with a brush and give it a few minutes to work its magic. 3️⃣ Once it starts bubbling, grab your putty knife and gently scrape away those old layers. 4️⃣ For tricky spots or carved details, I use acetone + an abrasive (steel wool, dish brush, or wire brush) to lift every last bit. 5️⃣ Always lay down plastic first — trust me, your floors will thank you later. 😅 Paint stripping is messy, but so worth it when that beautiful wood starts to shine through again! 🌿 💬 What furniture flipping technique do you want me to cover next? #furnitureflip #furnituremakeover #diy #upcycling #tutorial https://liketk.it/5wDlG

So tell me… Are you a PAINT lover? Or, a WOOD lover? 💬 Want the exact stripper I used? If you’re using a flat sander on trim, grooves, round edges, or carved details… You’re accidentally flattening the profile. 😱 Here’s how to use the sanding blocks with your vibrating sander to keep details crisp: ✅ 1) match the block to the shape ✅ 2) light pressure - let the grit do the work ✅ 3) use them wear a sander can’t get (edges, grooves corners molding) Comment BLOCKS and we’ll DM you the exact link to the blocks we use. MYTH vs FACT ⚠️ You need a ton of stripper to refinish furniture. 💬 Comment “LIST” and I’ll send you exactly what I use (tools + stripper that actually work, including a COUPON CODE). Must be following to come through. 😉 ❌ Myth!!! I stripped: • an entire coffee table • an entire end table • TWO antique nightstands with oil-based paint • a cherry end table …and I still have half a gallon left. ✅️The truth: It’s not about buying more product — it’s about using the product, tools and technique. If you’re new to furniture stripping, this one mistake can cost you way more than necessary. 💬 Comment “LIST” and I’ll send you exactly what I use (tools + stripper that actually work). I had a “spider sense” about this one. 🕷️✨ I picked up this dresser in a $50 combo deal and just knew there was something special hiding under that thick blue paint. I took a gamble, and boy was I right. Once I stripped away the blue, I revealed the most gorgeous, untouched wood grain I’ve seen in a long time. I wanted to make sure it was in prime condition before staining, so I spent a full day sanding through the grits to get that surface perfect. I went with a @minwaxusa stain in the color Coffee and finished it off with a sprayed Polycrylic topcoat for that buttery-smooth factory finish. ☕🪵 Between the new legs and keeping the original hardware, this transformation is officially one for the books. It blows my mind that this wood was hidden under all that paint for years. I feel lucky I was the one who got to bring it back to life! 🙌 I’m torn on the price point for this one. What do you think—how much should I relist this for? Drop your guess in the comments! 👇 #diyfurniture #furnitureflip #upcyling #transformation #paintstripping

🚨Save this!🚨 Order of Operations: 1. Clean (dish soap and water) *didn’t film this part* 2. Repair (Gorilla Wood Glue and Kwik Wood) 3. Scuff Sand (220 grit sandpaper) 4. Prime (Zinsser BIN) 5. Sand again 6. Fill dents and dings (Bondo Glazing Putty) 7. Prime again 8. Sand again 9. Use tack cloth to remove remaining dust And now we’re ready for the fun part! Stay tuned to see paint, drawer liners, and hardware! That last one is back ordered, which is the only reason I haven’t shared the full process today 😅 #diy #furnitureflip #paintedfurniturelove #prep #vintagefurniture

If you want a finish that actually lasts, you just CAN’T cut corners. I’m breaking down the two non-negotiable steps of furniture painting: * The Deep Clean (bye-bye, 20 years of dirt and grime!) * The Scuff Sand (giving that paint something to grip) See why these 20 minutes of “boring” work can determine your reputation as either a quality pro or a novice DIY’er. You don’t need a garage full of tools. You just need the right ones. Comment ✨️“TOOLS” and I’ll send you the exact sanders I use. You only need two power tools to start refinishing furniture - and no one really talks about this. 1️⃣ Mouse sander (start here). This is the unsung hero. It gets into corners, curves, edges, legs, spindles, and tight spots where big sanders fail. Add the $3 flexible sanding pads and you can sand curves and edges without rounding them or ruining the piece. 2️⃣ Orbital sander. For large, flat surfaces like table tops and drawers. This is what makes sanding fast and beginner-friendly without gouging the wood. ✅️ Both of these are affordable, durable, and collect dust, which matters more than people realize when you’re working indoors or in winter. Comment FOAM for links to these lifesavers 👇 Worried your sander will ruin your trim, edges, or curves? Sanding furniture can be risky! Most sanders are way too aggressive for delicate woodwork, trim, or vintage pieces. Especially if you’re restoring old furniture, repainting cabinets, or refinishing details, one wrong move can flatten out those beautiful curves, damage profiles, or leave deep gouges and scratches that are hard to fix. The trick: Use a foam pad with your sander! Either a foam interface pad (with sandpaper on top) or an all-in-one foam sanding pad will do it. Both pads flex over curves, mold to trim, and protect detailed edges. You get the smooth results you want without risking your project. • No more gouges • No more flattened edges • No more sanding by hand for hours • No more fixing sanding mistakes How to use foam pads for sanding furniture: • Place a foam interface pad between your sanding disc and orbital sander, then put your sandpaper on top. • If you have an all-in-one foam sanding pad, just attach it—the abrasive is already on one side. • Lower your sander’s speed if you can. Gentler settings help protect details and avoid burn-through. • Sand as usual and let the pad flex to every curve, profile, and detail. * Why I recommend these: Foam pads make it easy to refinish curved trim, sand furniture legs, work on doors, baseboards, moldings, and more. Whether you’re sanding paint, prepping for stain, or just smoothing a finish, this trick protects your piece and makes the job easier. * Quick tip: Always check your pad size to be sure, but 5-inch pads work for most orbital sanders, including brands like DeWalt, Makita, Bosch, Craftsman, Festool, Milwaukee, Ryobi, and more. Foam pads are available for all the most popular sanders, so you can upgrade your finish no matter what you’re using! Hand sanding tools might seem like a small step in furniture refinishing… but they make a HUGE difference in the final finish. Power sanders are amazing for large surfaces, but hand sanding tools give you the control needed for sanding between coats. This is also one of my favorite ways to smooth primer and paint coats to help create that professional, factory-like finish Sometimes the smoothest finishes come from slowing down and using the right tools. 💬 Comment SANDING TOOL and I’ll share the exact tool + grits I use. #diyfurniture #furniture #sanding #tools
