Photographers and videographers right now watching SD card prices skyrocket like it’s Black Friday in reverse. 👀🫣😭 📈 Why are memory cards getting so expensive? • Global flash memory production cuts , manufacturers slowed supply to stabilize profits. • Increased demand from 8K video, RAW photography, high-bitrate codecs (looking at you, mirrorless shooters 👀 (me)). • Higher costs for NAND flash chips and tech components. • Pro gear now requires faster UHS-II, CFexpress, V90 cards, which are already premium tier. Translation: our 64GB “throwaway” cards are now luxury items. 💴 What photographers/videographers can expect: • Fewer “cheap bulk buys” on reliable brands. • Continued push toward higher capacity (256GB, 512GB, 1TB) cards. • More shooters consolidating to fewer, larger cards. • Investing in reputable brands to avoid data loss (because at these prices?? Absolutely not risking it).
