How to make a seamless repeating pattern using @procreate (unbezahlte Werbung) Note: I have snapping on in procreate but not magnetic. It’s just my preference 🙂 could also skip the step of making a background first if you plan on having only a line drawing or only one element and want to be able to change the color of that only later. So, let’s say for this example w my pattern, if I wanted to be able to have the shapes filled in with a color, it’s the same process - make different layers for step one. One for lines and one for color and group them. Then later you can always change the colors of the shape outlines and the shape fill colors. If you just want lines or one shape all the same color you don’t need a group with a color, but I learned this pattern making process with *actual paper* so my brain likes to see the paper *being cut* haha 😅 hope that makes sense. FINALLY came around to remaking my seamless pattern tutorial! I know it may seem a tad complicated but once you do it once or twice, it’s super easy! There are also probably easier ways to this but this is how I’ve done it for years (literally learned this technique in 6th grade art club making patterns out of paper paintings) and it’s what works for me! Seamless repeat pattern tutorial✨ Check the caption for more detail 🌼 Step 1 - On procreate, create a square canvas of size 3000x3000 pixels or 12x12 inch. Make sure to set the DPI to 300. Step 2 - Click the wrench tool 🔧 and turn on the drawing guide. Click on edit drawing guide and set the grid size to “Max”. Step 3 - On a new layer, Create a motif of your choice. Duplicate it 4 times. Step 4 - Make sure to turn on the snapping and magnetics. This step is important. If not, your placement can get messed up. Step 5 - Now move each duplicated layer to one side of the canvas. Once done, merge them all together as a single layer. Step 6 - Sketch another motif at the centre to mask any negative space. Sketch it on a new layer. Step 7 - Now merge the new motif layer with the previously merged single layer. You now have a pattern tile that can be repeated seamlessly!🌼 Hope you find this helpful!
