Infielders: Flow with the ball! One of the most valuable skills as an infielder is the ability to move out of a standstill. Whether you are fielding a ground ball, turning a double play, returning a throw to your first baseman, or receiving the ball from your catcher at second base, our moves as infielders can never be separate distinct movements. They must work in unison and form one continuous flow. The ball must never stop moving. No matter what position your body is in or how you were able to get to the ball, as soon as you come into contact with it, it must immediately move into the next action. This applies not only to the glove, but also to the lower half. We want to limit the amount of time we remain in a standstill and train our ability to pop out of it, creating our own downhill momentum and reinforcing a seamless flow throughout the play. #infield #infielders #baseballcoach #baseballpractice #baseballseason #baseballgames #baseballlife #baseballdad #shortstop #secondbase #thirdbase #baseballdrills #franciscolindor #shoheiohtani #juansoto #bryceharper #mookiebetts #instagramreels #trendingreels❤️ #rap

2B Double Plays: Here are some different ways to turn double plays as a second basemen. No there is not one move better than the other. Most players have a preference or a go to move, but it’s important to not be a 1 trick pony and have multiple moves in the pocket! #PryorDevelopment

Younger players need to see this always check the runner at second a lot of times younger players will automatically just throw the ball across the diamond to first base to get the out always try and get the lead out check that runner at second!!! Make sure you always check the runner when you have a runner at second base. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve got a runner out coming from 2nd to 3rd because they assume or think that I’m going to throw the ball to first for the quick out always check your runner give a quick look if they are stuck in no man’s land always get the lead runner The same thing when you have a runner at third. I’ve had a lot of guys just takeoff to home when the boss hit directly at me and it’s just an easy out when they takeoff. As long as you’re calm cool and collected. Make a good throw to home. It’s a simple play for the Catcher. When you have a runner caught between second and third base, make sure you have your hand up with the ball ready to be thrown running them back to the base that came from you’ll see in the background the short stop covering back over at third the second baseman who I throw the ball to he applies to tag and we get the out. As always, when fielding a ball hit right at you get low, get your head behind the ball track the ball in first thing is take care of the ball, then check the runners #baseball #baseballplayer #fieldingdrills #beisbol

Today’s Tip: As a second baseman, when you come across the base on double plays, focus on the following: 1. Present a good early target with your glove to the shortstop or third baseman. Want a good feed, give a good target. 2. Athletic lower half when you get to the base. Athletic lower half is needed when anticipating a feed, allows for the best chance to adjust quickly in case of a bad feed. 3. Left foot on the base and on the back corner of the base. Allows for the right foot to come across the base easily. 4. Step to catch the ball with your right foot. When you see the line of the feed, step to catch it with your right foot in rhythm, to speed it up and get your momentum and direction on line to first. Stepping to catch will also help you get out of the baseline easier. 5. Obviously, hop after throw to protect yourself. 🎥 @coachsteinman #mlb #infielddrills #infielder #baseballtraining #baseballpractice #baseballinstruction #baseball #baseballdrills #baseballlife⚾️ #infieldtraining #infieldcoach #baseballcoach #infield #fielding #fieldingdrills #baseballislife #baseballlife #baseballplayers #infieldevelopment #baseballdevelopment #baseballseason #losangeles #dodgers #practice #coach #tuesdaytip

If you have a baseball player the need to see this This defense got me out of a jam! Runners on first base and second base. NO outs. Wheel play is on. Batter bunts, corners crash, short covers third Here we see @jfullerlefty9 crashing in grabbing the baseball and making the throw to the shortstop @davis_perkins22 who got the baserunner out by 3 steps. Always awesome to have a good defense behind you when pitching!! Went on to get the next two batters out and got the save!

Tips for turning a Double Play at second base: 1- Push your body forward using your left foot and use the base as leverage. 2- Use the base as protection and make a slight backward movement. 3- Step Back – this one’s my favorite! Always step on the base with your left foot and take a small step back to avoid contact with the runner. 4- Have good communication with your teammates. Let them know where you like the throw the most. 5- Know your runners. #workhard #baseballlife⚾️ #hardworkpaysoffs #baseball⚾️ #youthbaseballtraining #godisgood #infieldwork #mlbb #infielder #infielddrills
