[Budget Debate 3️⃣: Public Spaces Where Everyone Is Welcome] During the Walk of a Lifetime, organised by St Andrew’s Autism Centre. During the briefing, I learnt about how some parents keep their autistic children at home for fear of the social rejection they would encounter should their children go through a meltdown in public. There are inspiring examples of inclusive spaces in Punggol Regional Library and the National Gallery, and I hope that every operator of a public space can make accommodations to welcome persons with special needs. Let’s create calm corners, train volunteers, and design our public spaces intentionally, so everyone knows they are welcome ❤️ Let’s continue breaking down barriers, one space at a time! #Singapore #Inclusion #SpecialNeeds #Community

Through YMCA’s Youth For Causes 2025, Project SilverSparks - winner of the Public Outreach Award shone a light on the often-invisible emotional labour of caregivers in Singapore’s ageing society! From street collections and befriender sessions to their impactful Invisible Care campaign, SilverSparks combined on-the-ground action with bold digital storytelling, reminding us that caregivers deserve recognition, support, and visibility. Established in 1985, RSPID is the first and longest-running Regular Service Project within WSC. In partnership with MINDS MYG West End, RSPID serves as a platform for NTU undergraduates to move past assumptions about intellectual disability through direct experience, service and relationship-building, gaining a deeper understanding of inclusion, care, and what it truly means to serve with empathy. Chinese New Year Celebration 2026 🧧✨ 📍 AvidAscent Enrichment Centre, Section 17, PJ Our children with special needs had a fun, joyful and meaningful celebration! ❤️ It wasn’t just about the festivities — our young adults in job training were fully involved from preparation right up to the celebration day. From setting up, organizing food, decorating, and assisting teachers — they showed responsibility, teamwork, and leadership. They even took care of their younger friends and guided them during activities. 🌸 At AvidAscent, we celebrate not only festivals, but growth, independence, and inclusion. Last weekend was a busy one, but very fulfilling. I had the privilege of personally distributing more than 1,000 Edusave Merit Bursary Awards to students living in Bedok Reservoir–Punggol over Saturday and Sunday, in my role as Grassroots Adviser (GRA). Moments like these always remind me why grassroots work matters so much. It was especially heartening to see many familiar faces, some of whom I had just met during my weekly house visits or at our events. These ongoing conversations, whether at residents’ homes or community events, are what keep me grounded and connected to the people we serve. To our students, I shared a simple encouragement. Stay curious, stay hungry for knowledge, and never stop learning. But as you achieve success, always remember to look out for those around you who may be weaker or in need. A strong society is built when we lift one another up. Most importantly, knowledge must always walk hand in hand with good character. Integrity matters. Success should never come at the cost of honesty or values. As a community, and as a country, we must continue to stand for good character, responsibility, and doing what is right. #PeoplesAssociation #teamaljunied #bursary #scholarships
