Stop Shampooing Your Ends! 🚿💇🏽‍♀️💇🏻 Applying shampoo directly to your ends can make them dry, brittle, and prone to breakage. Shampoo is designed to cleanse your scalp, where oil and buildup accumulate - applying it to your ends will strip moisture from your lengths. Instead, focus on applying to your scalp only, and allow the shampoo to glide through your hair as you rinse 💆🏻‍♀️ #hairtips #breakage #dryhair #splitends #haircare

Your hairs not broken…. Most of the time it’s just tiny bad habits we’ve all picked up along the way. Here are the ones I see ALL the time. ✨ Shampooing the ends instead of the scalp Your scalp needs the cleanse, when you pile your hair on top of your head when shampooing, it seems foamy but the scalp might be getting missed (You are also drying out your lengths) ✨ Missing bits of your scalp Behind the ears, the nape, the crown… those areas matter more than you think. If the foam isn’t even across the entire scalp, keep doing it until it is. I sometimes do 3 shampoos! ✨ Skipping the second cleanse First wash lifts the grease. Second wash actually cleans. Do more if needed ✨ Using a shampoo that isn’t right for your hair Too heavy = greasy. ✨Conditioner creeping up too high It’s a mid-lengths and ends situation only, don’t plonk the conditioner near the top ever. ✨Not rinsing conditioner out properly Any residue left behind = flat, greasy hair the next day. We’ve all been there right? 😆 ✨ Using loads of product “just in case” More doesn’t mean better. It just means build-up. And running out faster. ✨ Rushing your wash A quick wash usually equals a dirty scalp. Make it a ritual, not a chore. Light a candle, play some music. This is your self care x ✨ Layering oils and masks without proper cleansing. You need to do a weekly detox shampoo or clarifying shampoo when you often apply masks and oils to your hair ✨ Washing your hair the moment it seems a little dirty. Your scalp is always producing oil, it’s a good thing. Work with it. A little greasy? Add oil to the ends and rock a slick look. Or a bun. Or a hat. Haircare can seem overwhelming, this is exactly why I’m doing the January Hair Reset with you 🫶 I’m sharing it daily on my stories, little tweaks, nothing overwhelming, just habits that actually make a difference over the next 3–6 months. We’re not aiming for perfection. We’re aiming for better hair habits together 🤍 If this made you feel seen, save it, send it to a friend, and come follow along on my stories @hello_healthy_hair

Your hair is not the problem. Is getting greasy fast Most of the time it’s just tiny bad habits we’ve all picked up along the way. Here are the ones I hear ALL the time. ❌ Focusing shampoo on your ends Shampoo is meant for the scalp. Scrubbing the lengths can strip moisture, while buildup stays behind at the roots. Missing areas of your scalp Behind the ears, the nape, the crown... those areas matter more than you think. If the foam isn’t even across the entire scalp, keep doing it until it is. I sometimes do 3 shampoos! Skipping the second cleanse easy last First wash lifts the grease. Second wash actually cleanses. Think about how we mop the floors (vacuum first a the mop). Do more if needed ❌Using a shampoo that isn’t right for your hair Too heavy = greasy. Conditioner applied up too high It’s a mid-lengths and ends situation only, don’t apply the conditioner near the top everrr. Not rinsing conditioner out properly Any residue left behind = flat, greasy hair the next day. I’ve been there 18 getting greasy fast ❌Using way too much shampoo or conditioner “just in case” More doesn’t mean better. It just means build-up. And running out of your products faster. ❌Rushing your wash A quick wash = a dirty scalp. Make it a ritual, not a chore. Light a candle, play some music. This is your ME time ❌Layering oil treatments or masques without proper cleansing. You need to do a weekly detox shampoo or clarifying shampoo when you often apply masks and oils to your hair Haircare can seem overwhelming & that’s exactly why I’m here to keep it simple. It’s probably your habits, not your hair. If your hair keeps going greasy fast, these are the most common culprits… 👀 🫧 Shampooing your lengths instead of your scalp Your scalp is where the oil is produced. Shampoo belongs on the roots, not the ends. 💆‍♀️ Not scrubbing properly / rushing your wash The crown, hairline and nape hold the most buildup. Massage your shampoo in properly. 🔁 Skipping the double shampoo First wash removes product + oil, second wash actually cleans the scalp. 🚿 Not rinsing long enough Leftover shampoo/conditioner = greasy roots + heavy hair. 🧴 Conditioner too close to the roots Conditioner should only go mids to ends… never on your scalp. 🔥 Too much dry shampoo / using it wrong Dry shampoo is a quick fix, not a replacement for washing. Buildup makes hair oilier over time. 🧼 Dirty brushes & heat tools Your brush collects oil + product… and you’re putting it straight back into clean hair. 🛏️ Not changing pillowcases regularly Oil, skincare and product transfer can make your roots greasy faster. #reels #reelsinstagram #hairtipsandtricks #nomoregrease

2,380

When your scalp is greasy but your ends are dry, the solution is not more product on top it’s better washing technique. Your scalp is living skin. It produces oil, sweat, and buildup. Shampoo is made to cleanse the scalp and remove that excess oil so your roots can feel clean, light, and lifted. Your ends are the oldest part of your hair. They don’t receive natural oils the way your scalp does, which is why they feel dry, rough, or frizzy. Conditioner is made to restore moisture, smooth the cuticle, and protect those fragile ends from breakage. When you shampoo the scalp and condition the mid-lengths and ends, you’re treating each area based on what it actually needs. Clean scalp = less grease, better volume Conditioned ends = softer feel, less frizz, less breakage One head, two different needs and shampoo plus conditioner is how you balance both 🫧💧

Your hair isn’t the problem… your habits might be 👀 Let me be honest — most hair issues don’t come from “bad hair”. They come from tiny habits we don’t even realize we’re doing. Here are the 10 mistakes I see ALL the time (and yes… I’ve done some of these too 😅): ❌ Putting shampoo on the ends Shampoo is for your scalp. The foam sliding down is enough for the rest. ❌ Missing parts of your scalp Behind the ears, the nape, the crown… if the foam isn’t everywhere, keep going. ❌ Skipping the second wash First wash breaks down the grease. Second wash is where the real clean happens. ❌ Using a shampoo that’s too heavy Too heavy = greasy roots and flat hair. Simple math. ❌ Bringing conditioner too close to the roots Conditioner lives on mid-lengths and ends. It does NOT belong at the top. ❌ Not rinsing well enough Any product left behind = oily hair the next day. Trust me. ❌ Using way too much product “just to be safe” More product doesn’t give better results… just buildup. ❌ Rushing your wash A rushed wash = a dirty scalp. Slow down. This is your moment. ❌ Layering masks and oils without properly cleansing If you love treatments, you also need a good clarifying wash. ❌ Overcomplicating everything Healthy hair comes from simple routines done consistently — not overload. Haircare doesn’t need to be confusing. It just needs to make sense ✨ Save this for later 💾 Follow for more real, no-drama hair tips 🩵✨ #haircare #viral #haircaretips

I hear all the time, my hair doesn’t get greasy as much when you do it.. it’s most probably your habits and lifestyle that is causing you to have issues with greasy hair. 🫧 shampoo is for the scalp, do not waste product and time scrubbing them ends - shampoo is for lifting and removing dirt and the oils you produce from your scalp. 🧼 wash hair throughly, make sure your taking time to get everywhere, rinse and repeat. The first shampoo lifts the dirt, the second removes. Do not miss any areas, hairline, crown as everywhere needs the oils removing. 🧟‍♀️ Hair spray, dry shampoos, ROOT SPRAY, all products used for styling will cause extra films on the hair, if you are using these, shampoo your hair upto 4 times to ensure everything is removed. 🧚🏽‍♀️ The right product, using shampoo tailored to your right hair type is essential, using products that do not suit your hair can cause unwanted moisture. ❤️‍🔥 clarifying shampoo - is a deep-cleansing shampoo designed to remove buildup from your hair and scalp. It is not for daily use but is good as a fortnightly shampoo! Helps oily and flat looking hair - good for swimmers, gym gooers, hard water areas! ☔️ RINSE - make sure all shampoos are rinsed properly. 💨 drying hair - drying your hair after a hair wash will instantly help grease. It will remove moisture straight away. This is one of the main reasons your hair from the salon lasts longer. Let us know if any of these tips work for you! 🥰

1. Only rinsing with cold water. Cold water can make hair look shinier at first, but it doesn’t effectively remove oil, dirt, or product buildup. Warm water is necessary to properly cleanse the scalp and open up the hair cuticle for a thorough wash. 2. Air-drying after every wash. Letting your hair dry naturally might seem healthier, but keeping it damp for hours leaves it fragile and prone to tangling and breakage. It can also cause scalp issues like flakiness or irritation. Instead, try using a blow dryer on a low-heat and heat protection. 3. Applying shampoo to your ends. Shampoo is meant to clean the scalp not the lengths. Scrubbing it through your ends can make them drier and more brittle. Let the lather from rinsing your scalp flow down through the ends for a gentle clean. 4. Detangling with a wide-tooth comb. Although combs seem gentle, they don’t flex much and can snag or snap hair when tackling knots. A detangling brush with flexible bristles is a better choice, as it glides through tangles more smoothly and minimises breakage. 5. “Training” your scalp. Skipping washes won’t make your scalp produce less oil. Oil, sweat, and buildup can clog follicles and lead to irritation, itching, or even shedding. Wash your hair whenever it feels dirty typically two to three times per week tor most people, depending on your scalp type and activity level. #haircareroutine #hairmyths #hair #hairgoals

A couple of these might actually surprise you 👇🏼 🫧 1. Washing exclusively with cold water While a cold rinse adds a temporary glow, it’s not enough to break down oils and product buildup on your scalp. You actually need warm water to get that deep, effective cleanse. 🫧 2. Being an “air-dry only” purist It sounds like the “safe” route, but hair is at its weakest when wet. Letting it stay damp for hours can lead to breakage and scalp issues. A quick blow-dry on low heat is often the better move for your hair’s integrity. 🫧 3. Forcing sulfate-free shampoo when it’s not working Sulfate-free is trendy, but if you have oily roots or use lots of products, it might be leaving your scalp congested. Sometimes your hair just needs a proper clarifying wash to stay balanced. 🫧 4. Drowning your hair in oils A little goes a long way. If you’re constantly saturating your hair without a deep clean, you’re just creating buildup that weighs down your roots and can even clog your follicles. 🫧 5. Skipping trims to “save” your length It feels counterintuitive, but avoiding the salon actually stalls your progress. Split ends eventually travel up the hair shaft, causing more damage. Regular “dusting” trims are the secret to keeping your length healthy. #hairadvice #healthyhair #hairtips #longhair #hair | 00399

there can be a lot of contributing factors + here are a few ❌ focusing shampoo on your ends - shampoo is meant for your scalp + your scalp only. Scrubbing the ends can strip natural oils + moisture, while leaving buildup at the roots ❌ missing areas of your scalp - behind the ears, the nape + crown…those area matter more than you may think. if you find it’s not even across the entire scalp, keep doing it until it is. sometimes I do 3 shampoos! ❌ skipping the second cleanse - first wash lift grease, second wash actually cleanses. think of it like how you clean your floors. sweep, then mop. do more if needed. ❌ using a shampoo that isn’t right for your hair - too heavy = greasy ❌ conditioner up too high - it’s is meant for your hair, not your scalp. so always use it from the ears downs. never near the top ❌ not rinsing conditioner out properly - any residue left behind = flat, greasy hair soon after wash (been there too many times!) ❌ using dry shampoo after your scalp is already oily - apply it on clean hair to absorb oils as they come in, apply under your hair, not on top + leave for a minute or two before massaging it in with clean hands ❌ layering oil treatments, masques or other leave ins without proper cleansing - you need to do a weekly scalp exfoliant/clarifying shampoo when you apply masks or oil to your hair ❌ not cleaning your hair brush on a regular basis - your brush can make your hair more greasy when you keep brushing your clean hair with old grease, oils, dead skin cells + hair. try to wash it 1-2x a month ❌ not blow drying your roots after you wash - this makes the perfect environment for yeast, bacteria + mold to grow on your scalp, making it itchy, oily + causing other scalp issues haircare can seem overwhelming + that’s exactly why I’m here - to keep it simple, effective + giving you the tips you need to have your best hair ever save this for later + follow for more tips!
