She almost didn't re-tape that night. 😳 She was exhausted. It was 11pm. And she couldn't believe that the adjustments I gave her would even matter so much. They did. Three bookings from one tape. Will that always happen (3 bookings from one tape)? Probably not. But will you always -- 100% of the time -- get a CD's attention when you know how to deliver exceptional auditions that exceed their expectations. Yup. And that's 👆 what leads to being brought in by them again and again, callbacks and bookings (and more bookings). A little perspective on the numbers of the casting process. Every time you submit or tape for us, there is a real team on the other side watching. At Monika Dalman Casting there are four of us who go through every single tape before anything is sent to the creative team. Your work is being seen. I want you to see some of the numbers we have on just one casting site we use, @castingworkbook. Behind every number is a full person who trained, prepared, and put themselves out there. We do not take that lightly. It also explains a few realities of casting. Why deadlines matter. Why clearly labelled files and organized materials help so much. Why late tapes can be difficult to fit in once the process is already moving. It is also why we cannot have coffee or calls with every actor, and why it is impossible to give one on one feedback to everyone who tapes. We would love to, but then we would never actually get the casting done. If we ask you to tape, it is because we think you might be right for the role. We are not asking people to do work that no one will watch. And if you do not book something, it is usually not because you did something wrong. Often it simply comes down to fit. So keep going. Keep taping. Keep showing up. If we are auditioning you, we are rooting for you.

📣 Casting doesn’t meet you first. They meet your media. Your rep submits you through Breakdown Services, which is directly connected to your Actors Access profile. Here’s the real sequence: 1️⃣ Casting clicks your headshot 2️⃣ If interested, they watch your media 3️⃣ Then they ask ONE question: 👉 “Do I believe this actor can do the job right now?” If your profile is full of student films, bad sound, unclear roles, or amateur footage, you don’t read as professional. You read as risky. And risk doesn’t get hired. When your media looks HBO / Netflix-level, your positioning is clear, and your strategy is tight? You stop being a question mark. You become the obvious yes. ☕️ It’s like a coffee shop: Best beans in the world won’t sell if the place looks like a dump. Same rules apply here. Most actors spend $250K+ on training and almost nothing on the ONE thing that actually gets them hired: 👉 marketing, positioning, and proof. 💥 Proof: Kathy Cortez invested under $10K to fix her marketing and media.
