We are continuing our Meet the Leader series. At San Antonio Behavioral Health Hospital, strong leadership is not only about guiding others, but also about remaining open to growth, learning, and teamwork. Next in our series is our Nurse Manager for Units A and C, Derrick Thomas. Throughout this interview, Derrick speaks on the importance of being a leader who is also willing to be led. His perspective on leadership highlights humility, accountability, and the understanding that great leaders never stop learning from those around them. Another quality that stands out immediately is his calm demeanor. Derrick shares how maintaining a steady and composed mindset helps him navigate stressful situations while continuing to support both his team and patients effectively. In each feature, we sit down with our leaders to learn more about their journey into leadership, the qualities they believe matter most, and how they stay grounded in a field that can be both challenging and deeply meaningful. We also keep things light with Two Truths and a Lie, giving you a chance to guess along before the reveal. This series continues to highlight the people behind the mission and the leadership that helps shape our culture of care. Elevate. Empower. Heal. #mentalhealthstigma #interviews #hospitalstaff
