SHELLS! I have been so deep in sharing my new botanicals with y’all, but I’ve also been bursting with excitement to share all the shells I’ve been working on! I am loving this new series and how it’s taking shape. What started as a project to make trinket trays is evolving in a completely new art series for me! I even have been commissioned by a luxury hotel to create 5 original pieces and can’t wait to share more on that soon! I’ve ordered acrylic box frames for these canvases and will aim to release them in May or June. Stay tuned! If you are interested in your own custom shell piece, pls reach out. P.S. ignore the marks on my back - I needed to have acupuncture and cupping done last week to deal with my back and shoulder pain from hunching over painting so many shells! I love this piece. It is part of my Malibu Collection that was released in January. The collection was all about color, happiness and inspired by one of my favorite places, California. This piece feels different. I have never been a neutral colors kinda girl, I just thrive in bright bold colors, because life is colorful and beautiful! 🤩 It’s the largest seashell piece I’ve ever painted… and the gold details completely changed it at the end. I don’t make many like this—as a SAHM of 3 and lots of solo parenting moments, I am very selective as to what I paint and for who I paint… I can only do so many as I am super busy and I don’t think this one will sit around for long. This shell commission is on its way to its new home! The client asked for a design similar to one that I’d previously done. I used similar patterns and adjusted the colors slightly to best suite the clients space. Shells are my type of gold, looking for shells is one of my favourite hobbies! In all of my years of travel and almost completing the whole lap of Australia these are some of my absolute favourite shells I’ve found whilst walking the beaches! This has taken years to create & I’m not kidding 😂 years of collecting! So I thought why not turn it into a piece of artwork that is personally special to me & I can look at everyday! How to clean shells: this was a huge process, 1. use 1/2 hydrochloric acid 1/2 water and dunk for about 4-10seconds, depending on how salty the shell is. 2. Rinse with water & completely dry them out 3. Paint mineral oil or baby oil all over the shell and wipe off any excess, you may need to do 2 coats. 4. Get a shadow box frame and hot glue the shells onto the back! Then you have a beautiful shell arrangement that’s super special 🐚🐚 #shells #shellart #art #artist #seaglass
