To do this test simply try and touch your fingers together behind your back. Can you reach farther on one side compared to the other? - Itโs common for the shoulder on your dominant hand side to be more stiff than the other side. If thereโs a BIG difference side to side (1 or 2 inches or more) you may want to give some of these stretches a try! - The Sleeper Stretch is one that is sometimes given to improve shoulder internal rotation. Some say that this is a bad stretch to do because it puts your shoulder in an impingement position. However, if this stretch is done properly and GENTLY and doesnโt aggravate your shoulder it can be ok to do. BUT! ๐, I see a lot of people get waaay too aggressive with this one and to be honest there are BETTER options! - In a couple studies from JOSPT they found that the cross body horizontal adduction stretch improved posterior shoulder AND internal rotation mobility better than the sleeper stretch.
