I stepped up to serve down 10-14 in a 3rd set, and I knew we were about to win. I was in the zone and I had the confidence of all the reps I had put in during my practice and training sessions. After scoring 5 straight points, this is me serving match point. I hit an aggressive serve that puts them out of system and forces a free ball pass. I don’t care where it is on the court, I’m passing that free ball with the game on the line. We execute with a good set and a big swing by our stud OH for the win. All that work practicing making plays with one arm showing up on this cover. I really practice an idea called “thought on contact” where I always thinks about the best place to put the ball. Sometimes that’s being really accurate, while other times it’s being safe with my location. On this play my thought on contact was just put it straight up. I was already close to the net. Not reason to risk putting it too tight. Putting the ball straight up kept us in system without much risk.
