🤟 𝒮𝒾𝑔𝓃 𝓃𝒶𝓂𝑒‼️Check out this video for an amazing and beautiful milestone in Ella’s ASL journey. And why Ella said it feels like being knighted by the queen 🗡️👑 A sign name is a unique sign for you, so instead of letter spelling your name among friends, you use your sign name. 🎁 It can only be given to you by someone in the deaf community, and Ella knew this could take a while for the right moment. She’s four years into learning this second language. So it was a major surprise when she started chatting with a group of deaf and hard-of-hearing ladies on our first full day in Austin that they quickly built a rapport and bestowed upon her this gift. (Well the building a rapport part was not a surprise, Ella does that with everyone she meets!) 😭 Mom was in tears, fully aware of what this means. And the name is perfect. The E letter symbol comes down the side of the head in a squiggly, replicating Ella’s curls. Fun facts: Three of the ladies also had names that begin with E! 💇🏻‍♀️ And it came after Ella had a haircut earlier in the day and we talked about her curls getting ready for filming.
