Corría el año 1934 y, según cuentan las crónicas de la época, los Mercedes W25, pintados en un color blanco inmaculado (el oficial de los coches alemanes), se pasaban por un kilo del peso marcado por reglamento. ¿Solución? La leyenda cuenta que el director del equipo, Alfred Neubauer, y el piloto, Manfred von Brauchitsch, empezaron a eliminar la pintura con base de plomo.
