Ok but HOW?? So many people ask me how I make my unique silver pendants and the answer is: I make them all by hand using a material called metal clay! It’s a clay-like substance that is actually made up of tiny silver particles held together by an organic binder. The binder is then burnt off in the kiln so only the silver remains! Many people wonder if this is actual silver and the answer is YES! It can even be hallmarked as such! The truth…👇 This is a wildly oversimplified way of explaining how fine silver clay works 😅 . When I started using this material I truly thought it was going to be just as easy as I made it look in this reel. . The more I used it I realized very quickly that metal clay is very temperamental and particular. There’s a loooot of little things that aren’t shown in this video that go into working with silver clay to get a real, solid, long lasting, smooth piece of fine silver jewelry. . Now that being said, I do love working with silver clay! It’s very fun and definitely opens up a lot of possibilities for me in jewelry making! . My fav thing to make with it are these adorable Conversation Heart pendants on a shiny thick sterling silver chain ✨ . Each heart is custom stamped with your fav word, your name, your partner’s name, or a special date! . Made from .999 fine silver metal clay that I shape, cut, stamp, and file before it’s even ready to be fired. . Once the clay is dry, I fire it with my torch so all of the binder burns away leaving solid metal behind! .
