why I’m no longer rushing it 🦢 Not everyone is called to marriage — after pestering the Lord for about 9 months He confirmed marriage for me. Not only with peace but verbally in my dreams. Now now, I idolized marriage my entire life, possibly because I didn’t grow up witnessing a healthy one. Truth be told I idolized men and exalted them to the position of a savior. When coming into the body, that sentiment still existed until God checked it. The truth about marriage was revealed: it’s not pretty. Worthwhile yes but not picturesque. Marriage isn’t about the beautiful wedding, the large diamond ring, or the portrait photography. No, it’s much deeper than that. Marriage is a sacred covenant between your partner, you and God. It is a means to further fulfill God’s will. It is a ministry— one that takes great sacrifice. When we walk down the isle to the alter, we present ourselves, our current versions, as a sacrifice. Marriage is a duty, a selfless one. You become his help meet, his intercessor.
