👇🏻3 Drills to Level Up Your Turns ⛷️ Important: the outside ski is in charge — you need pressure on the outside ski. 🎿 1. To build pressure on the outside ski, it helps to lower your body position slightly. This gives you more range of motion and reduces leverage from the forces acting on you. 2. Move your upper body over the outside ski to shift most of the pressure onto it. 3. Once you feel stable over the outside ski, you can lift the less-loaded inside ski to further improve your balance and position. Bringing this video back in case you need a reminder - 6 tips for skiing steeper, bumpier terrain! This type of skiing is different than groomers, but it doesn’t have to be harder if you focus on some of these key factors. 1. It all starts with an aggressive mindset. If you feel confident and excited, you’ll ski much better than if you’re timid and on your heels 2. Get onto the ball of your foot and front of your boot. Again, this is much safer and will make the skiing much easier than if you’re on your heels 3. Break down the slope into smaller chunks and give yourself a goal of a certain number of turns to link up at a time (for example, 4 or 6 or 8 continuous turns) to practice 4. Look where you’re going and visualize your line 5. Use your pole plant to get forward and help time / place your turns 6. Keep your shoulders level and facing down the hill. This will help you stay on the front of your boot and downhill ski #skiing #ski #skitips #skitutorial #howtoski #skiseason

Want REAL edge angle? This is where it starts👇🏻⛷️ Save this video and FOLLOW for better carving!
Strong edging doesn’t come from force, it comes from alignment. Focus on keeping your shoulders, hips, and knees on the same axis. Use your poles as a visual guide and make sure your axes stay parallel to the slope.

Step 1: Match the slope angle with your upper body by inclining slightly to the outside. Your shoulders, poles, hips, and knees should all run parallel to the piste. This position keeps you centered over the ski, with both legs flexed evenly. At the same time, it allows you to edge smoothly through the ankle, knee, and hip joints without blocking movement. Step 2: To increase edge angle, expand your range of motion toward the outside ski. Extend your outside arm with the pole outward and let your upper body move with it. At the same time, lift the inside arm, place the pole across your shoulder, and maintain balance and alignment. Build this step by step — edge angle comes as a result, not a goal. 1. Skiing in the backseat Skiing in the backseat kills control, the tips of the ski lift up and we can’t turn properly. Pressure should be with your shins against the front of your boots. We wanna bent our ankles more than our knees 😊 2. Forcing the turn with your upperbody Going straight in a turn is scary, but throwing your body around the turn is tiring and unnecessary. Have a little patience, make your turns a bit bigger and let the ski shape guide the turn. 3. Looking down at your skis Your body follows your eyes. With looking down we tend to bend too much down and thereby we lock our position too much. Look where you want to go, not at what’s under your feet. 4. Stiff upper body Locked shoulders = no flow. You see tension mainly when people have the ‘dinosaur arms’ 🦖 (arms tensed towards the body) Keep your upper body calm but relaxed with your arms forward. 5. Leaning to the mountain Leaning to the mountain feels safe but it makes us off balance. Try to keep your ankles, knees and hips to the mountain and your upperbody to the valley. This way you have most balance and the best stand on your skis. Follow for more ski tips 🫰🏻 @thatgirlwhoskis #skiing #thatgirlwhoskis #skitips #skiimprovement
