IT FINALLY HAPPENED!! . After three and a half years of hoping and trying to spot an otter in the sea loch in front of our cottage - we finally saw one 🥳🥳🥳 . Willie has seen one a couple of times further out along the coast and we have seen otter spraint (poo) around the glen loads of times, but they have always eluded us right here in front of the cottage. Willie likes to think he can see otters in the loch all the time, but when we look closer through the binoculars they usually turn out to be birds or seals… . Yesterday morning though, we were sitting outside in our PJs, enjoying our morning coffees in the sun, when Willie spotted something swimming across the water. When it turned out to be an otter heading for the shore, I (Sarah) threw on some camo gear, grabbed my camera and ran! I used all the tips that @harrymartinphotography gave me a couple of years ago to sneak closer to it without disturbing it an it fed in the shallows in front of me for about an hour 🥰 . Otters cover a lot of territory and have multiple holts (dens), so it won’t always be here in our glen. So that just makes it extra special when we get opportunities like this to see some of our amazing wildlife! . . . #Otter #Skye #Wildlife #ScottishHighlands #Otters

It’s a tough life! . Yesterday I took a 2.5 hour round trip to the south of the island to drop off some stock (prints & cards) to a new retailer - Skyelark Gift Shop, perched right at the end of Armadale Pier, on the Sleat Peninsula. . If you are taking the ferry to Skye from Mallaig - look out for @skyelarkgifts when you disembark and check out their wonderful selection of local arts & crafts! Their shop is like a treasure trove of local creativity and I’m so happy to be stocked there for this season 🥰 . Sleat is a stunning part of the Isle of Skye - often overlooked in favour of the more famous sights and therefore can be much quieter.
