When you look at a slate roof, each slate doesn’t just overlap the one below, it also overlaps the one two courses below. That double overlap is known in the trade as the headlap. It’s the section of slate that’s hidden beneath two others, forming the watertight barrier that keeps rain from driving under the roof covering. The headlap ensures that water always runs safely down and off the slates, even under wind pressure or capillary action. If the headlap is too small, wind-driven rain can blow up beneath the slates and penetrate the roof, especially on low-pitched roofs or in exposed locations. For this reason, roofing standards specify a minimum headlap, which varies depending on pitch, exposure, and slate size. The lower the pitch or the more severe the exposure, the greater the headlap required, typically increasing from about 50 mm on steep, sheltered roofs to 100 mm or more on shallow or exposed ones. It’s something about when you in that rink no matter what problems you had it seemed like during that time they all were put on pause. The old school music was playing… and you stayed on the outter circle because you was in the fast lane… Growing up in Atlanta remember the Sundays where would go to Cascade & skate till late at night then go to Waffle House after not going to sleep until 4 am and waking up for school at 7 am.
