Here’s why you don’t want to miss out. [More time in totality] An eclipse crossed the US in 2017, but totality only lasted up to 2 minutes 42 seconds. This time, the Moon will completely block the Sun for over 4 minutes in some areas. [The Sun is more active] 2017 was a calm period for our Sun. But in 2024, it’s much more active. That means there’s a much better chance of seeing giant streamers, prominences, or even a solar eruption. [A wider path is more populated] This time, the Moon’s shadow will be wider and will pass over more populated areas. Nearly 3 times as many people live within the path compared to the eclipse in 2017. There won’t be another total eclipse crossing the US until 2045. So don’t miss out! •One Year Ago• On April 8th, 2024, a total solar eclipse was visible across several regions of the United States, drawing significant attention from both scientists and enthusiasts. I traveled to Carbondale, Illinois, a location situated directly along the eclipse’s centerline, in order to observe the event under optimal conditions. Being on the centerline allowed me to experience the total phase of the eclipse, during which the Moon completely obscured the Sun, casting a brief but profound shadow over the landscape. Totality during a Solar Eclipse This is a never before released time lapse I took 2 years ago on April 8,2024. The clip itself is about 15 minutes long but Sped up over 20 times.
