A solar eclipse occurred today on 14th October 2023. A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun, blocking out the Sun's light temporarily. This happens when the alignment of the Earth, Moon, and Sun is such that the Moon's shadow is cast on the Earth. A lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth passes between the Sun and the Moon, causing the Earth's shadow to be cast on the Moon. Here' s a simple eclipse spinner model to help kids understand this wonderful event. How to make? Download the pdf from our website, print and cut the spinner, paste it on the cardboard and connect both the circles with a split pin. #solareclipse2023 #solareclipse #stemactivitiesforkids #stemproject #geography #teachersofinstagram #teachersfollowteachers

#save Why wont you see the eclipse? This is a question I got asked and then there was no other way than to explain them the umbra, penumbra and where the eclipse falls and how it happens. 🌞 On April 8, 2024, there will be a special event called a total solar eclipse. 🌞 This means the Moon will move between the Earth and the Sun, casting its shadow on Earth’s surface. 🌞 The shadow has two parts: the umbra, where it’s really dark because no sunlight can get through, and the penumbra, which is a bit lighter because only some sunlight can reach there. 🌞 If you’re in the umbra, it’s like the Sun is completely covered by the Moon, making it really dark - that’s called a total eclipse. 🌞 If you’re in the penumbra, it’s only partly covered, so it’s not as dark - that’s called a partial eclipse. 🌞 During a total eclipse, the Moon is farthest from the Earth, and you might see a glowing ring around the dark part of the Moon. 🌒 It’s important to never look directly at the Sun, especially during an eclipse, because it can hurt your eyes. Instead, you can use special glasses with filters to see the eclipse safely. There’s more tomorrow on this .

A lunar eclipse can last for a few hours, while a solar eclipse lasts only a few minutes 🌒Stages of solar eclipse : Here’s a simplified explanation of the stages of a solar eclipse 🌗First Contact: The eclipse starts, and the moon begins to move in front of the sun. Look for cool things like Baily’s Beads, Shadow Bands, and the Diamond Ring just before the sun disappears behind the moon. 🌘 Second Contact and Totality: The moon covers the sun completely, making it dark for a few minutes. This is the coolest part, where we must remember to wear eclipse glasses until it gets dark and put them back on before it gets bright again. 🌑Total Solar Eclipse and Ring of Fire: When the sun is completely covered, it’s called a total solar eclipse. Sometimes, a ring of light around the moon makes it look like a ring of fire. 🌒Third Contact: After the cool dark part, the sun starts to show again, and it gets brighter. Look for Baily’s Beads, Shadow Bands, and the Diamond Ring again. 🌓Fourth Contact: Finally, the sun is back to normal, and the eclipse is over and the sun can be seen with naked eyes. 👍 like , share and save Follow @2monkeys.and.me for more #diy
