Choosing the right colors for different skin tones is less about strict rules and more about understanding undertones (warm, cool, neutral). Here are some tips that have personally helped me at picking colors for my drawings ✨ 🔸Color theory is your friend: Learning analogous, complementary, and split complementary colors are a good start. Understanding color theory can help you take the guesswork out of the process and pick out color combinations that are harmonious and interesting. 🔸 Limit yourself: Picking two or three colors to be the main ones cuts the headache of having every color at your disposal. Even if you have access to a wide range of colors, limiting yourself to a select few can help you focus and create a more unified look. 🔸 Plants are green, but can also be red. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different colors and color combinations, even if they’re not “realistic”. Sometimes the most interesting and eye-catching designs are the ones that break the rules. Share any tips you may have find helpful as well Happy coloring 😊🩷❤️🧡💛💚💙 #sketchbooktour #sketchbookfliptrough #colorpicking #colortips #colortheory #arttips #handbookjournalsketchbook #artinspiration #sketchbooklove

A question I get a lot is about how my watercolors are so saturated and I think this is the reason (that and the lovely paints by @mhwatercolours 🙌🏻) Complementary colors neutralize each other, sometimes leading to muddy mixes. Analogous colors ✨harmonize✨ to give you a vibrant result! 😍 If you’re looking to learn more, I also have a Patreon tutorial posted, going over the difference and how to use them! #colortheory #complementarycolors #watercolor #painting tutori
