Here are some shortcuts to immediately make it sure you get cinematic footage 🎥 ⬇️ 1. These settings are an industry standard. You want your frame rate at 23.976 or 24 to make it easy. You want your shutter to double that at 1/48 or 1/50 for most non cinema cameras. This gives you a natural motion blur. An aperture at 2.8 will give you a cinematic depth of field and still be sharp with most lenses. ISO at 800 for shooting lot (or whatever your cameras native iso is, some are 640. I have my camera at these settings 95 percent of the time and use an ND filter to change exposure. 2. This is a big ones. Lens compression is what our eyes are used to seeing in movies. Shooting at 35mm and above give you a nice compressed frame that automatically feels more cinematic. That’s not to say you can never go wider for establishing shots or to purposely extend your frame. But tight lenses help a cinematic look. 3. Camera movement is also a huge factor when it comes to making things look cinematic. Adding a slow push or pull, tracking with your subject or using a gimbal to add dynamic camera moves goes a long way to making things look “expensive” Bonus: If you’re shooting yourself like I am a lot, most of your shots will be static. That’s okay. Static shots can look great too but this is really when you want to focus on a strong interesting composition, and since you can’t have movement from the camera, be sure there’s movement in your frame. #filmmaking #cinematic #cinematography
