AWS pushed a routine update that messed up DNS—the internet’s phonebook—so apps couldn’t find DynamoDB. And yes, the e-commerce giant Amazon is also the world’s biggest cloud provider. When AWS hiccups, a lot of the web sneezes. OpenAI, Netflix, Reddit—even a so-called “decentralized” blockchain called Base—all felt it. The chaos lasted around nine hours, and now the internet’s mostly back. We take this stuff for granted until a day like this reminds us how fragile the ecosystem is. Here’s the better way to learn Linux 👇 1️⃣ Learn the purpose first Before memorizing a command, ask: What is this command used for? Which problem does it solve? When would I use it in real life? Example: You don’t need to “remember grep”. You need to know: 👉 I want to search for a pattern inside logs or files. Now the command becomes meaningful. 2️⃣ Learn Linux by categories This makes it 10x easier: File navigation File editing Permissions Processes Services Networking Logs Once you group commands by use case, Linux stops feeling random. 3️⃣ Practice with real scenarios Don’t just type commands. Use them for actual tasks: Find a file Check logs see which process is running fix a permission issue test connectivity That’s how Linux becomes natural. 4️⃣ Use help, not memory Real engineers don’t memorize everything.
