How I cleared SSC CGL in first attempt without coaching. I appeared for ssc cgl 2016 , I scored 178 in prelims. And approx 340 in mains ( English + maths ) Here’s a quick strategy that I followed 👇 • Don’t read multiple books — instead, read limited books multiple times. I solved previous years’ question papers 4–5 times, highlighted my weak areas, and worked on them accordingly. • Start preparing for Mains first. Complete your syllabus of Maths and English, and then move to Reasoning and GK. • After completing the syllabus, take as many mock tests as you can. • Don’t just attempt mocks — analyze them. This is very important. Identify where you’re making mistakes, improve those areas, and keep practicing. • Before prelims: Solve at least 2 mock tests daily. • Before mains: Solve at least one mock test each for English and Maths every day. • Make short notes and note down short tricks. There are many useful channels on YouTube — for example, short tricks to solve percentage questions for SSC CGL. • At least 15 days before the exam, enroll in any online mock test series (like Testbook, Unacademy, etc.), attempt the tests, and analyze where you’re lagging. Revise those areas. (Most students make the mistake of only attempting mocks, but analyzing them is what truly helps you improve.) 📚 Books that I studied for SSC CGL exams: (Pinned in comments) #ssc #ssccglexam #sscexam #govtjobpreparation

📌 Before you read (Important Disclaimer) • I have good grasping power • My English was already strong • I was a good student in school 👉 This strategy may NOT work for everyone. But if you worked hard in school and didn’t waste those years, you can follow a similar approach. 📊 My scores (for clarity, not validation): • Prelims: 154 marks • Mains: 344 raw Now please keep unnecessary hate comments to yourself. ⸻ 📚 Books I Used for SSC CGL 🔢 Mathematics • Pinnacle – Question practice • Concept King (Gagan Pratap) – Concept revision 🧠 Reasoning • Pinnacle – Question practice 📖 English • No grammar book (my grammar was already good) • Pinnacle – Question practice • Black Book – Vocabulary 🌍 GS / GK • Prelims: Pinnacle • Mains: Pinnacle + Lucent • You can also use Parmar Sir’s new GS books • Static GK: Parmar Sir • Current Affairs: Did not study (due to time constraint) ⸻ 👨🏫 Teachers I Followed 🔢 Maths • Rakesh Yadav Sir – VOD Batch (only ~200 lectures) • One-shots for lengthy chapters from: • Gagan Pratap • Maths Mania • Gagan Pratap’s short videos were very helpful for revision 🧠 Reasoning • One-shot videos on YouTube by: • Arun Kumar Sir • Piyush Varshney Sir 📖 English • I didn’t follow anyone personally • You can follow: • Rani Ma’am • Jaideep Ahlawat Sir 🌍 GS / GK • One and only — Parmar Sir 📝 Mocks • Testbook • Oliveboard ⸻ 🎯 My Core Strategy (Most Important Part) 1️⃣ Finish Maths syllabus first • Watch lectures with full focus • Give maximum time to Maths • Give minimal time to other subjects initially 2️⃣ After finishing Maths lectures • Start question practice from Pinnacle • Even if you forget concepts → DO NOT rewatch lectures • Instead, watch solution videos on YouTube 3️⃣ Then divide time among all 4 subjects 4️⃣ Reasoning • Give least time • You’ll automatically improve because it’s comparatively easy 5️⃣ English • If weak, buy any teacher’s basic course • You won’t finish everything in 6 months • But you’ll definitely improve

1) Master the Exam Pattern & PYQs (Most Important) Understand the pattern of SSC CGL Tier 1 & Tier 2 first: 👉 The real game-changer = Previous Year Questions (PYQs) Solve at least 5–7 years PYQs thoroughly. You’ll notice: Same concepts repeat. Same question types repeat. Even similar numbers repeat. 💡 Strategy: First 1–2 months → Only concept + PYQs. Revise wrong questions weekly. 2)Revise Smartly (Not Just Study More) Most aspirants study a lot but forget a lot. SSC CGL rewards those who revise repeatedly. Follow the 3–Step Revision Rule: Revise within 24 hours Revise again after 7 days Revise again after 1 month 👉 Especially for: Formulae (Quant) Vocabulary (English) Static GK & Current Affairs 3)Make a “Mistake Notebook” After every mock: Write only your wrong questions. Note the concept + shortcut. Revise this notebook every Sunday. Trust me — this single habit can increase your score by 15–25 marks.
