The USMLE Step 1 schedule framework that actually works 👇 1. Treat dedicated like a job Dedicated means Step 1 is your only priority. No classes, no rotations, no work if you can avoid it. Most students do best with 6 to 8 weeks, studying about 8 to 12 hours a day with real breaks. Your schedule should feel intense but doable, not like a daily crisis. 2. Schedule practice exams first, then work backwards Your tests drive your calendar. Take a baseline exam before dedicated. Then plan an exam every 1 to 2 weeks early on, then weekly as you get closer. Your last full practice exam should be at least 5 days before test day, ideally about a week out. Put Free 120 about 3 to 4 days before. You can’t “wing” this part. 3. Build your day around questions, not content review Questions are the main event. Plan 80-120 UWorld questions per day for most of dedicated, building up to it over 1 to 2 weeks. Use timed blocks and mixed topics once you are rolling. In the final week, slow down to about 40 to 80 questions to protect your mental energy. 4. Spaced repetition every day Weakness review daily, ideally Anki. Expect 2 to 3 hours a day, split into smaller chunks so you actually finish. If you skip days, it snowballs fast. 5. Content review is the garnish Max 2 hours a day, and start with your weakest systems. Use it to patch holes you keep seeing in questions, not to “relearn everything.” 6. Plan for the day after exams Post exam days are for deep review plus Anki. If you have time, add one 40Q block. Most people fall behind because they don’t budget for exam review. 7. One day off per week You still do Anki in the morning, then you rest. Burnout kills more scores than “lack of discipline.” I am hosting a FREE Step 1 masterclass that walks you through strategies that I refined after tutoring 250+ students for USMLE. When I started my Step 1 dedicated, I used a vague schedule I got from a friend and thought I just had to “work harder.” I fell behind almost immediately. I was studying 14 to 16 hours a day, still felt like I was failing, and spent more time deciding when to do questions, review content, or even eat than actually studying. It was constant overwhelm and decision fatigue. The biggest lesson I learned (and what I now teach my students) is simple: you need a real plan. Not a random do questions, Anki, and content review. A plan that tells you what you are doing each day and how you are spending your study hours, down to the minute. Over the past 3+ years, I have tutored 250+ students for USMLE exams, and one pattern is always true: Students end up having to postpone (or worse, fail) because their strategy is messy, their schedule is unrealistic, and they are guessing their way through dedicated. That is why I built this masterclass. In my FREE Step 1 masterclass, I will walk you through the schedule framework I use with my students so you can stop wasting days and start executing with clarity. You will learn how to structure your week, time block your days, review questions for retention, and more! If you feel behind, or are unsure of how to properly study for Step 1 without wasting your time and energy, this is for you. Want to join? One of the biggest mistakes I see students make with Step 2 is waiting until dedicated to get serious. By then, the pressure is high and you are trying to fix months of weak strategy in a short amount of time. That is when students end up studying all day, feeling busy, and still not getting the score jump they want. If you are aiming for a high score on USMLE Step 2, here is what to do consistently 👇 1️⃣ Start Step 2 prep during third year, not just during dedicated The students who score well are often building their foundation during rotations. 2️⃣ Study for shelf exams like they are Step 2 prep Your shelf exams are part of your Step 2 preparation. What you learn well now will pay off later. 3️⃣ Do 2 passes of UWorld (1st during third year, 2nd during dedicated) First pass: learning and building clinical reasoning Second pass: speed, pattern recognition, timing, and exam level execution Use UWorld intentionally. Do not just try to finish it. 4️⃣ Practice timed mixed blocks early A lot of students stay in tutor mode too long. You need to build pacing, stamina, and decision making under pressure well before test day. 5️⃣ Track weak systems & test taking errors (not just scores) Do not just track percentages. Track why you missed questions. This is how you fix the real problem. 6️⃣ Daily active recall & spaced repetition with Anki for your incorrects Focus on your weak points and repeated misses. This is where score gains happen. 7️⃣ Complete ALL CMS forms + NBMEs + UWSAs + Free 120 under exam conditions Do not save these just to collect scores. Use them to train test day performance. Take them seriously. Time them properly. Review them deeply. IMG note (important) 📌 If you are an IMG, your timeline may look different, and that is okay. You may not have shelf exams, but use a shelf style structure anyway. My 120+ page Step 2 eBook is currently on presale. After March 4th, the price goes up. It contains all of the strategies that got me 257 on Step 2, refined over years of helping 250+ students crush USMLE. Comment “STEP2” and I will DM you the link, or click the first link in my bio.

Scoring 250+ on USMLE Step 2 CK as an IMG is not about studying harder. It is about studying smarter. I kept my Step 1 foundation fresh, used daily active recall to lock in high yield concepts, focused on deep clinical understanding through structured learning, and practiced questions intensely during the final two months. More than one full Qbank pass and multiple self assessments made the real exam feel familiar. What made the biggest difference? Consistency and exam strategy. Step 2 is not just knowledge. It is pattern recognition, time management, and clinical reasoning under pressure. If you are preparing for Step 2 CK, here is a pro tip: Do not rush into endless resources. Master one system at a time, review your incorrects deeply, and simulate real exam blocks weekly in the last phase of preparation. This approach helps you build confidence, reduce anxiety, and maximize your score potential as an IMG aiming for a strong Residency Match. #USMLEStep2 #Step2CK #IMGJourney #ResidencyMatch2026 #USMLEPreparation
