Here’s a very simple introduction to stepper motors. This is a $150/hr R&D skill that can be learned on the weekend, with tons of reference designs for you to pull from, including the GitHub I’m providing for free. In this video we use the Arduino IDE, the Xiao RP2040 microcontroller from Seeed Studio, and a stepper motor to precisely control linear position. #microcontroller #project #diy #howto #electronics

‼️Day 12/30 - Everyone keeps asking what this little thing is and how I use it, so let’s keep it simple. It’s called a mini stepper — two pedals, no handles, and a lot of sweat. You just step up and down, but it’s not as easy as it looks. After 5 minutes you feel your legs, after 10 your breath, and after 30 you start wondering about life choices 😅 There are a few ways to use it: full foot on the pedal - works your glutes and legs evenly (that’s usually my base move); toes forward, heels slightly lifted — adds pressure to calves and quads; toes on the edge, heels hanging off — balance goes crazy, burn starts faster, and calves are on fire 🥵; slow pace = strength; fast pace = cardio; add bands = arms and balance; and then there’s breathing - some people breathe with the beat, I count 4 steps in, 4 steps out, and sometimes just… survive hahahaha 🤍That’s the whole “technique”. It looks simple, but it’s all about rhythm and staying consistent. 10, 20, 30 minutes - whatever you do, it adds up 🤎 45 minutes workout done ✔️ Music: Monolink. Mood: calm, sweaty, present. Welcome to my new mini stepper challenge ❤️🔥#stepperworkout , see the results later @lana_london_uk 👉🏼 Goal: -15kg

New in React 19.2: Activity Component (You Should Know This!) React 19.2 introduces the Activity component — a new way to handle loading states more intelligently 🚀 In this short video, you’ll learn: What the Activity component is Why it’s better than traditional loaders/spinners How it improves user experience When you should use it in real apps This feature works beautifully with Suspense and modern React rendering patterns. Perfect for React developers who want to stay up-to-date with the latest React features. #react #react19 #react192 #activitycomponent #reactupdates #frontenddevelopment #webdevelopment #javascript #reactjs #learnreact #coding #programming #techshorts #reactshorts #frontenddeveloper #webdevtips #modernreact #reactfeatures

Day 179: Building closed loop steppers Most stepper motors are just guessing. They’re out here living their best life, counting steps, and having zero clue that they’ve been stalled for the last 10 minutes. I decided to end the delusions by adding AS5600 magnetic encoders. Now, thanks to the Hall Effect and some very specific "Diametric" magnets, the arm actually knows where its limbs are. #robotics #engineering #diyrobots #assembly #AS5600

PD Stepper - Things By Josh This tiny board turns a regular stepper into a precise tool… smooth motion, repeatable moves, serious torque. It mounts right on the motor, uses a TMC2209 driver, reads position with an AS5600 magnetic encoder, and runs on a USB C PD supply. One cable in, smart motion out. The PD Stepper https://thingsbyjosh.com/products/pd-stepper • Simple install, magnet on the shaft, four screws, done • USB C PD power, why you want at least 3 amps • WiFi control from your phone, onboard buttons for quick tests • Silent moves with the TMC2209, closed loop accuracy with the AS5600 • Real use cases, camera slider, turntable, smart blinds, kinetic art Specs: • ESP32 S3 for brains • WiFi endpoint for control • TMC2209 driver, stealthChop and smooth microstepping • AS5600 magnetic encoder for closed loop position • USB C Power Delivery input, plan for 3 amps or more • Slim profile, mounts directly to NEMA style motors, spacer acts as a heatsink You need a thing to move a specific amount, at a specific speed, the same way every time. This board makes that easy… quiet motion, accurate steps, repeatable results. Parts I used in this video • PD Stepper, linked above • NEMA 17 stepper • 65 to 100 watt USB C PD charger • 5 amp e marked USB C cable, for high draw demos gotchas: • Do not power the motor from a computer USB port… use a PD supply • If motion is noisy, check microstepping and current settings #ESP32 #StepperMotor #TMC2209 #USBC #PowerDelivery #ClosedLoop #AS5600 #Maker #DIY #HackMakeMod #ThingsByJosh #PDStepper
