In parts of southern Ethiopia, stilt-walking is more than a performance, it’s a cultural tradition filled with joy, storytelling, and just a bit of showing off ✌🏼 Often seen at festivals or special gatherings, it’s a playful way to connect, celebrate, and keep history alive.

It’s been a while since I updated you all on my @digilegs stilt walking journey! I have been diligently training the past two weeks and feel a lot more stable! Still a long way to go, but a massive improvement! It’s small bouts of standing, stepping, and finally walking, building up gradually over time until I can walk confidently. The Banna people use stilts to navigate the marshy landscapes where they herd cattle and cross rivers. Stilts also protect the Banna from wild animals and venomous snakes.
