How much “Bounce” or Vertical Oscillation is in your #running #runningform #stride ?! 🏃🏻Often times at @higherrunning we see athletes that came from another sport background (usually more explosive sports like football, soccer or basketball…or even sprinting backgrounds). They often have what I call a: “Sprinting stride” that is very powerful with lots of bounce or spring with eeach step! We can see there is a big vertical oscillation (head is bobbing up and down). Now some of this is essential for better #runningspeed and #runningform …but generally too much #verticaloscillation hurts efficiency in ling distance racing. For #marathons and even #ultramarathons or a #5k you want fairly low vertical oscillation and more horizontal propulsion/movement with a shorter and faster #runningstride . A lot of this data like "Stride Height" can be recorded using a device like the @corosglobal POD 2 🙌 ✅Follow along for more #running #runningcoach Tips! 🏃🏻🙌! 🎥: @stephengnoza @hoka @corosglobal @strava #runnersofinstagram #runningcommunity #runningmotivation #runnerslife #run #runninginspiration #trailrunning #halfmarathon #exploreperfection

AKA JOIN THE SPRING CHALLENGE TO CROSS TRAIN LIKE A BOSSSS 🤣🤣👏🏼👏🏼. But seriously…. Where my runners at??? 🙋🏼♀️🙋🏼♀️ raise it! And if you’ve been incorporating my programs into your training at all - has it helped with speed?? •• I hear this time and time again - that speed got so much better when you were intentional with your cross training, changing up your runs, incorporating intervals, and recovering properly. •• Is it what we always WANT to do as runners?? No, sometimes……no 🤣 •• But it does make ALL THE DIFFERENCE. •• When I first started my running journey, I’d run the same route, same pace, same distance over and over and over again. •• I joined a HIIT class at my local gym (this was probably over a decade ago) and the instructor had us doing run intervals on the treadmill between circuits. I did this class religiously for a year straight and was shocked at the difference it made in my pace. •• And this was ONCE A WEEK that I was incorporating sprint intervals into a workout. •• But it made a difference over time. •• It’s no surprise at all that runners need to train in other ways - but I’ve seen and felt first hand the difference it has made in my running over the last 10-12 years. •• Strength training pros: building muscle that directly helps you stride better, push better, pick up pace better, recover faster, builds core strength + helps you stay in alignment. •• HIIT pros: building endurance and stamina that helps you run faster, go for longer, hold pace for longer, increase explosiveness, greater HR capacity. •• The list goes on! So many of you are training for races right now 👏🏼🙌🏼 which is awesome. If you don’t have a cross training plan of attack - I GOTCHU!! Seriously. •• I love lovvvve working with runners on this and my programs are catered to create a great running / split routine - with plenty of time to recover, shift the schedule, create your own plan. •• I answered a good amount of running questions in my Spring Challenge highlight on IG - so feel free to head there or drop questions below. •• It’s not too late to join #STRONGINSPRING 2023. We start 4/3…. Link is in my bio!
