5 reasons why you might still be struggling with builder gel- 1. You’re using a thinner viscosity gel. The thicker the gel, the longer you’ll have to manipulate it without flooding, you’ll also have much more control over a thicker gel as opposed to thin. 2. You’re not manipulating the gel after application. It’s crucial to use a liner brush after the initial gel application in order to poke out any air bubbles and ensure the product and apex are in the proper spots, skipping this step can cause flooding and also make your application look lumpy. 3. You’re not letting the product self level properly. After applying builder gel it’s going to gravitate to the sides of the nail which can sometimes cause flooding or make the nail look bulky, after manipulating the gel with a liner brush flip the finger upside down for a few seconds if needed to let it gravitate to the apex rather than the sides before curing. 4. Your prep isn’t clean enough. ANY debris or little bits of dead skin left around the cuticle area and sidewalls can very quickly cause flooding as well as messy looking application. You won’t have a clean gel application if your prep isn’t just as spot on! 5. You’re not utilizing a flash curing lamp! I’ve seen many beginners skip this step and wonder why all of the nails flood before they can even finish the hand. After you’ve applied and manipulated the builder gel where you want it to be, use a small flash curing lamp to freeze it into place on that finger before moving to the next. However, be sure to fully cure the hand for the proper amount of time in a normal lamp after you’ve finished all 5 nails!
