A “submissive grin” in dogs is often misunderstood because it looks like a snarl, but it’s actually the opposite. Some dogs will retract their lips vertically, exposing their front teeth, sometimes with soft eyes, a lowered head, and a wiggly, curved body. This isn’t a threat display. It’s an appeasement gesture. The dog is communicating, “I’m not a challenge. I mean no harm.” You’ll typically see submissive grinning: • During greetings with familiar humans • When a dog anticipates mild social pressure • After being startled or corrected • In naturally soft-tempered dogs The key difference from aggression is the rest of the body. A submissive grin comes with loose muscles, blinking eyes, curved posture, and often full-body wiggling. An aggressive snarl is stiff, forward, hard-eyed, and tense. It’s a fascinating example of how canine facial expressions can be misread. Teeth showing does not automatically equal aggression… context and body language matter far more than lip position alone.

All I can say is Alhamdulillah for Islam. May Allah protect us from this level of idolisation, fanaticism and devotion unless directed towards our Creator. This level of devotion should never be given to a human and when we take guidance from something other than God, our submissive nature will latch onto that guidance and manifest into worship. Here they are attributing a celebrity to the Likes of a prophet, meanwhile Jesus (as) himself even in the Gospel accounts, consistently directs worship away from himself as an independent object and human and toward God alone, saying “You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only shall you serve,”. Jesus himself prostrated on his hand and knees to God, not so he may be associated as the object of worship. Yet we’ve strayed so far. This isn’t about hating Taylor swift (though I do have a propensity to hate billionaires) or that I never hear her music, but a reminder to fellow Muslims to perfect our worship and recognise what it can look like in this modern age. if I want to worship something I have a list of non negotiables: 1. what I worship should not profit off me 2. What I worship should not be corrupt and should be 100% equal, equitable, fair and just 3. What I worship should condemn all forms of harm and murder especially genocide 4. What I worship should actually benefit me in the end (to gaze upon the face of our creator and be granted eternal paradise) 5. What I worship should be unlike me in any way (because then I won’t easily fall into worshipping myself) 6. What I worship should not be able to die for me or my sins (because this doesn’t befit everlastingness and an eternal God) Anyway that’s just me. May Allah protect us
