As I always says Sustainability is in our India roots.I learned sun drying from my dadi and my dadi learned it from her dadi ! In Gujrati household sukavni (sun drying ) is integral part of our traditional cooking and we sun dry so many vegetables. This summer I sun-dried many vegetables (I.e cluster beans ,chillies ,melon skin etc)and we call it kachli ! Tomatoes we use in curries and other vegetables we fry and eat with dal -Bhat (dal rice ) #sustainableindian #zerowasteliving #zerowastekitchen #zerowastelifestyle #wastefreeliving #sustainablehome #viralreels

Edit: People are asking how to help: buy our sun dried fruit and syrup. We can ship this across Australia. And that is the end of our harvests for 2024-25. We started with figs back in December 2024 and finished with mulching the last of our quinces into replenish and build the soil. So many reasons, fruit fly restrictions limit where we can sell unless we spray the fruit with pesticides, which we don’t do. Then the price for fruit for manufacturing has dropped from by half from 2023 prices do we couldn’t afford to pick it. People have asked why we didn’t give the fruit away for hungry animals- because of fruit fly restrictions and where we are zoned we are not allowed to do this (unless it was our neighbours next door in the same zone). What we didn’t sell to Sydney fresh market and what wasn’t kept for Singing Magpie for sun drying and syrup fell to the ground. Bottom line we didn’t make any money on quinces this year, not enough to pay ourselves but there is a silver lining, the fruit was mulched back into the soil, replenishing it and making it stronger for next harvest. #singingmagpieproduce #quinces #knowyourproducer #regenerativefarming

Save this if you’re growing tomatoes 🍅 this year. How to Grow Tomatoes PLANTING Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before your last frost date (or purchase plants from a garden center). Harden off for 1-2 weeks before planting. Plant after the threat of frost. Compost your soil before planting. Loosen the soil and make sure it’s well draining. The Ancient Rajasthani Art of "Stuffing" Chilies(Bharwa Mirch)🌶️ #shorts #historyfacts #foodhistory Did you know that the famous Red Chili Pickle was originally a survival invention? 🤔 In the ancient deserts of Rajasthan, fresh vegetables were rare, and food scarcity was common. To ensure their families had food year-round, our ancestors developed a unique preservation method. They didn't just stuff chilies; they used "Kitchen Chemistry": • Sun Drying: Removing moisture from the thick chilies to prevent fungus. • Fenugreek (Methi) & Salt: These weren't just for taste—they acted as powerful natural preservatives to stop bacteria. • Mustard Oil Barrier: Filling the jar with oil created a seal against air, keeping the pickle fresh for years without refrigeration. It wasn't just spice—it was security against hunger! 🌶️🏺 #RajasthaniAchar #AncientPreservation IndianPickle FoodHistory PrachinPixel BharwaMirch CREDITS & DISCLAIMER: Note: This video depicts a creative narrative story about the origin of traditional Indian foods. 4 tips for making potent herbal medicine from a clinical herbalist trained in advanced medicine making Tea is very effective medicine when prepared/ extracted properly & dosed according to the needs of the individual. The herb to water ratio is greatly varied— depending on the herb being extracted. Different plant parts and constituents will also need to be treated uniquely; hot vs cold infusion vs decoction. Light & heat are damaging to constituents, which is why sun drying is not recommended. If you live in a climate with low humidity, air drying is more than often sufficient and most energy/ cost efficient. If you are in a high humidity climate and need to use a dehydrator, the herbs should be dried on the lowest setting. Dried herb, macerations and extracts should also be stored in a cool, dark place or in amber glass. Alcohol percentage matters! Vodka, brandy, whisky, tequila, etc are 80 proof which means they’re 40% alcohol and 60% water. When you’re working with a menstruum that is mostly water, but working with a plant that contains alcohol soluble constituents, the extraction potential will be reduced. And if you use fresh plants with 80 proof alcohol, you’re increasing the water percentage even more— which can lead to an unstable preserve. Plant (or mushroom) material should be minced, blended, powdered, etc when making an extract. Many medicinal constituents are actually defense mechanisms that have created through evolution to avoid being eaten. If a deer or a bug takes a bite of a plant, the plant is going to release those defenses to deter the animal or insect from eating it anymore. If you efficiently break up the plant material, it’s going to release the medicine into the menstruum.

5 things you must clean if you have dandruff (most people miss these!) Dandruff isn’t just flakes ❄️ — it’s a fungal imbalance. And fungi thrive on anything damp, dark, or unwashed. If you only treat your scalp but ignore your environment, dandruff will keep coming back. Here’s what to watch 👇 1️⃣ Combs & Brushes Every comb stroke can re-seed fungal spores. Wash weekly with soapnut (reetha) or a natural cleanser + always sun-dry. 👉 Tip: Apply neem oil to wooden combs after washing and sun drying ( to maintain combs and enhance anti fungal properties) 2️⃣ Pillowcases 6–8 hours of scalp contact daily! Wash every 2–3 days. Sunlight isn’t just a dryer — it’s a natural antifungal and anti bacterial agent 3️⃣ Bed Linen Spores transfer even without visible flakes. Wash + sun-dry regularly to prevent hidden buildup. 4️⃣ Towels (esp. head towels) Never reuse. Damp towels = fungal incubators. Wash after every use + sun-dry. 5️⃣ Headgear (helmets, caps, scarves) Dark, humid interiors are fungi heavens. Clean thoroughly and finish by Wiping helmets with neem or soapberriey solution + sun-dry when possible. 🌿 Ayurvedic Insight Ayurveda calls dandruff a kapha-vata imbalance which attracts fungal organisms . So it’s not just about “killing fungus.” It’s about creating an environment where your scalp can naturally stay balanced. ✨ Pro tip from us at Krya: Use our Krya Lemon Detergent for bed lined, pillow cases, combs, head gear — lemon + herbs = natural antifungal cleansing without damaging fabric, scalp, or soil. 💬 Want the full Ayurvedic Dandruff Guide + recommendations from our range that works on stubborn dandruff? 👉 Comment “DANDRUFF” and we’ll send it to you. #dandruff #ayurveda [ Ayurveda, dandruff, hair care, anti dandruff, hair goals, hair transformation]

💧Moisture Testing our Hempblocks💧 🍃 There is no protective plaster or windows yet on this build. 👊 Just Blocks vs. Rain 🏆 The Blocks performed fantastic! This was tested only after a few hours of sun in the morning after a big rain. 📝 2 things to note: 1. There was a large difference between the shade side and the sun side on the exterior. Between the sun drying and the wind blowing more on that side. It was drying very quickly! 2. There was a moisture content on the inside. But no rain fell inside? And you can see it wasn’t seeping through the block? This is because the inside is completely open to the environment and they were absorbing the humidity of the air on the inside. This is exactly what we wanted to see because this will help regulate any large amounts of humidity that get inside the house and then release it in a safe way that will not create mold. Once the house is dried in, and combined with a great HVAC plan. Mold won’t stand a chance! 🦠👊 #healthyhomes #homebuilding #moldfree #oklahoma #buildingscience #moldmitigation #hempblocks
