Sometimes the most magical thing about a movie is seeing how it came together. We can watch the final product and feel however it makes us feel, but that’s usually disconnected from all the work that went into it. You rarely think about the different takes, different conversations, and intense work that go into every single second. Especially a film’s biggest, most important emotional moment. This is during the filming of the film’s emotional climax when Superman gives Lex Luthor the speech about his flaws and humanity. As you’ll see, actor David Corenswet didn’t quite connect with the words, so he and Gunn really dug into it on the day. Not all heroes do press One of my favourite scenes from 2025, and my favourite in the film, isn’t a fight or rescue but a conversation. Superman is interviewed by Lois Lane and it’s somehow more gripping than the action as it does something superhero films rarely do. It’s superman in the real world, with real consequences. It questions power, even good, and asks if intervention can ever be morally simple. Clark has just stopped a war and in his mind the logic is clear. People were going to die, so he intervened. His worldview is straightforward. If you have the power to stop harm, you stop it. No politics, no diplomacy or debate. But Lois pushes back, not because she thinks he’s wrong to save lives, but because the world is rarely that simple. Borders were crossed. Governments weren’t consulted. And suddenly the act of saving people becomes something the world wants to argue about. That tension is what makes the scene so fascinating. Superman represents moral clarity. Lois represents accountability. It’s one of the many reasons Lois is so brilliantly written. She isn’t just “the girlfriend”, she’s a journalist doing her job and asking the questions no one else would dare ask. In a way, journalism is its own kind of superpower here. The courage to challenge power, even when that power is well-intentioned. Rachel Brosnahan plays her with such sharp intelligence and charisma that I honestly wanted twice as many reporting scenes. Opposite her, David Corenswet feels instantly right as Superman. Warm, sincere, quietly confident, and unequivocally good. What I love most about the dynamic here is how they challenge each other while still listening. Lois grounds Clark. She fills the blind spots in his love-for-humanity-tinted worldview. And he reminds her that sometimes the moral line can and should be that simple. It’s a small scene, but it says everything about who these two characters are.
