Train HARD! 💪 Diego traveled from abroad to do a three week intensive physical therapy session with us! Here’s how he got to work! 🦵He started in the Universal Exercise Unit to stretch and strengthen his muscles. He performed flexion and extension of the hips to strengthen the glutes, quads and hamstrings. 🌉 He worked on bridges to target his glutes, which helps with his posture while standing and walking. 🦸Superman (prone extension) works on back extensors, glutes, and shoulders, which also targets proper muscles to help him stand more upright! 🤵Then he puts on a TheraSuit, a soft orthotic, to provide his body with sensory feedback on how to properly position his body. This feedback allows him to activate the correct muscles groups and strengthen them. 🧎While doing transitions from kneeling to tall kneeling in the TheraSuit, he had an extra challenge of resistance thanks to the Universal Exercise Unit to target his glutes. He then had to maintain tall kneeling position with the resistance and bring a bar up and down with his elbows straight to work against his STNR and improve his posture and shoulder range of motion. 🧍♂️He went onto the Galileo vibration plate to increase body awareness. We do this before walking as it helps get the blood flowing, improves muscle activation, and balance. 💪 He went through his home therapy program including a variety of exercises to continue increasing his strength and flexibility! These included: sit-ups, supermans, stretching, standing balance, and walking to improve his gait and endurance! 🎾 Finally, he rounded out his therapy doing sit-to-stands to work on balance and controlling the rotation of his hips and knees. But I didn’t want to be that annoying gym person that everyone is waiting for so they can have a turn! So I just took it outside and do more resistance training. I did 3 sets of 10 in 3- legged bird dog with crunches, reverse crunches and Superman’s to locusts. I probably haven’t done a wheel pose all summer so that was a bit rough, but my back felt great!
