Another one of our absolute favorites! Trevor had such an innocence about him, he still kind of does. Of course I love him saying mom is his favorite but it was so adorable to hear him count after the lightening. He also started calling me by my first name which was so adorable. I remember the time where I wasn’t sure if he would remember it. Even through the darkest times we’ve made some of the best memories. I thank God the opportunity to share our journey and for the miracle he gave us all. Every extra day with Trevor is a total blessing. Hug your loved ones, enjoy each day for what it offers, life is precious. And just to add on a special note so I don’t have to reply to 1000 critical comments, it’s OK to cuddle your kids!!! Love on them! Tell him they’re special. This was taken the same year we were told he had died, then that he would live in vegetative state, and then told that he would never live a normal life. I have been in the hospital for 7 days now. I know that may not seem that long but to me it’s felt like an eternity. Especially since I have been in and out of the hospital the past few months, I really haven’t gotten the chance to just continue to live my life. I have so many emotions going on. I feel isolated, I feel guilt, I feel sadness, I feel scared, I feel grief, I feel like a burden, I feel lost, I feel disconnected, I feel scrambled, I feel so many different emotions running through my veins. Bad days come and go. But you know what doesn’t come and go? Having cancer. It’s stuck in my body. Believe it or not I still have not gone into the acceptance phase of living with terminal cancer. It’s not something I can accept and I don’t think I ever will despite having it for so long. I’m grieving. Grieving on all the moments I’ve missed and will miss. Grieving a life I wanted oh so bad. Yes, I know there are still amazing things I have in my life that I’m so grateful for. But, I wanted to show the hardship and reality of what cancer looks like some days. There are still a lot of positive things I can share but I wanted to show the hardship and realness. Vulnerability is hard. My hope is that my vulnerability can help someone else though and connect to those who are going through something similar. Know, you are not alone. I remember how excited we were for Lily to try food. Lily was started on a level four purée diet. Lily didn’t have much mouth or tongue movement and struggled to chew. Having to relearn how to eat and drink has been a long lengthy process. We all feel it in the moment. But here’s the truth: none of that really matters. When you’ve been diagnosed with brain tumors… when you’re sitting in an MRI machine… when you’re fighting battles that truly test you… those little slip-ups and annoyances fade away.
