Homeward Bound: A Community Journey for Paws in Need 🏡🐾 Last night, I had the privilege of touring the new SPCA Swift Current facility, the Stauber Family Memorial Animal Shelter, and I brought my fellow animal-loving bestie, Erica, along with me. Before stepping into the new shelter, we toured the current facility. As animal lovers to our core, it was heartbreaking. Looking into the eyes of the cats and dogs confined to kennels that no longer meet today’s standards, I had to hold back tears more than once. Then we walked into the Stauber Family Memorial Shelter. This building is hope. It is clean air. It is safety. It is healing. It is second chances. It gives vulnerable animals the opportunity to run, play, connect, and receive the care and enrichment they deserve. Serving all of Southwest Saskatchewan, the Swift Current SPCA has long outgrown its current facility. This new shelter will transform animal welfare in our region, with dedicated veterinary space, an on-site crematorium, and thoughtfully designed areas to better care for animals in need. This incredible project was made possible by Lori Stauber’s transformational gift of approximately $4.5 million. The full vision requires $7.5 million, and thanks to community support, they are now about 80% of the way there. The Swift Current SPCA is a non-profit, funded entirely by community members who care. If you are able to donate, volunteer, or simply share their story - it truly matters. Every animal deserves fresh air. Every animal deserves comfort. Every animal deserves love. Every animal deserves a chance to make it home♥️
