During decompression diving requiring 3 or more stages, the bottom stage is usually lightest, owing to its Helium content, and is positioned closest to one’s chest, while the heavier 50% bottle is placed on the outside, counterbalancing the lighter bottle. The o2 bottle (used for decompression at 6m) is tucked away securely on the diver’s back, across their thigh, ensuring it will not accidentally be breathed at an inappropriate depth. Technical diving courses aren’t just about getting certified; they require mastering complex skills, handling failures, and understanding gas management. But don’t rush it! Before moving up, you should build solid experience. Dive until recreational limits start feeling too easy—then it’s time for tech. Equipment: The Never-Ending List If you already have dive gear, chances are, you’ll need to replace or upgrade it. Let’s focus on deep technical diving equipment. Getting my sidemount liberty dialed in. I’m at 6 hours at the moment on the unit and spending those hours practicing and doing intensive training. I managed to get my weight distribution almost perfect! The no fins excersize is one of my favorite to do at the end of a dive to see how i am underwater, balance wise. This gives me clear feedback aswell on what i have to do with my weight. And after putting my fins back in, you are so in controle of everything. That’s a very special moment!
